The answer to today’s Wordle is “Taboo”.
The word “Taboo” is primarily an adjective, but can also be used as a noun or verb. Regardless, the meaning remains pretty much the same; something that is banned or frowned upon due to morality, taste, or social acceptability. Examples of use include, “this particular subject is taboo,” and “they developed a taboo against it”.
According tothe Online Etymology Dictionary, the origin of “Taboo” is somewhat unclear. However, we know that it only entered the English language at the end of the 18th century. Some etymologists believe it comes from the Tongan “ta-bu,” which was used to mark something out as especially sacred.
