This comes just as the Sekai Taikai tournament is looming, and with her daughter considering what she really wants to do. Ultimately, this batch of episodes ends with her leaving Miyagi-Do and joining Kreese’s new Cobra Kai.
Speaking withCollider, Hurwitz revealed whyTory decided to join Kreese’s side at the end ofCobra Kaiseason 6 part 1. The showrunner explained how the Cobra Kai master’s words were an influence, alongside everything else she goes through during the season. Check out what Hurwitz had to say about her shocking decision below:

For this, we knew that at the end of this episode, we wanted Tory to rejoin Cobra Kai, and we needed the way to get her there. And this was the way that was gonna get her to do this, put her in a place where she’s feeling good, finally, after all this time, and then take it away from her with a little whisper in the ear from Sensei Kreese. She felt like this was her only option. In terms of Peyton, she gets the scripts, and, it’s so funny, she’s not somebody who ever reaches out with any questions. She just gets it on the page. She gets it, she shows up, she delivers. If there’s any adjustment that needs to be made, you direct her and the next take, it’s there. She’s been doing this forever in her life, but to play a character like this, it’s so different than anything she’s ever done, and she’s got every tool in the toolbox.
How Tory Joining Kreese Will Impact Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2
Will Tory Rejoin Miyagi-Do?
While the decision is bound to be shocking to the characters inCobra Kaiwho are part of Miyagi-Do,Tory’s character arc makes sensegiven everything she’s been through in part 1. Thedeath of Tory’s motherseems to have been her final straw, as her grief might keep her from leaving Kreese’s side, even if she decides her joining was a mistake. Both this massive decision and her loss are bound to influence whatever she does going forward, including training under a new Cobra Kai banner.
In addition to her own character story,Johnny and Daniel may feel somewhat responsiblefor her leaving them, especially given their conflicting viewpoints on Miyagi-Do. This could, ultimately, bring the pair closer together, deciding it would be better for them to work closer with one another to avoid losing another member of the team. It may also influence attempts to bring Tory back, trying to make her see how Kreese’s history means he won’t be a good teacher for her. However, it will likely take time before she’s able to commit to a return.

Cobra Kai season 6, part 1, was dedicated to choosing a team to represent Miyagi-Do at the Sekai Taikai. So who was chosen, and could they win?
Since there are still two parts left inCobra Kai’s story, the show has plenty of time to show more of Tory’s journey as she navigates the role she wants in karate. With plenty of ways her story could go from here,it’s still not entirely clear what her final fate in the show is going to be.But, with a teacher like Kreese now influencing her, there are a multitude of good and bad ways her story could end. Yet, given her character so far, it wouldn’t be surprising if her joining the antagonist’s team is a temporary decision.
