Summary
Between two major characters, one of them is all but guaranteed to die inThe Wheel of Timeseason 3. ByWheel of Timeseason 2’s ending, multiple characters fromRobert Jordan’sWheel of Timebookshave already met their ends in Prime Video’s show. However, it’s thus far avoided killing off any of the mainstays ofThe Wheel of Timecast, with the possible exception of Ishamael, who may or may not have died permanently.
This approach is consistent with the books. Despite the legions of characters existing inThe Wheel of Time’sworld, the assortment of heroes in the novels grows throughout the story, but most are alive for the vast majority of the narrative. However, there are some that don’t make it to the end. Presumably, this will also be true of the show. With that in mind, there’s good reason to suspect that one of two specific characters inWheel of Time’scast won’t survive season 3.
Why One Of Alanna’s Warders Is Probably Going To Die In Wheel Of Time Season 3
The Wheel Of Time Is Racing Toward The Death Of Alanna’s Warder
The death of Owein inThe Shadow Risingis am ominous sign for the fate of either Ihvon or Maksim inWheel of Timeseason 3. In the books, Owein - along with Ihvon - served as a Warder to Alanna Mosvani. He died in the Two Rivers, leaving Alanna with only one Warder and sending her through a period of grief. There isn’t a character named “Owein” in the show, but his role in the story is represented nonetheless, via Maksim. As a Warder to Alanna, Maksim acts as a replacement for Owein. Unfortunately for his character, that puts Maksim in a position to potentially receive Owein’s death as well.
The setup in the books supports that idea, as the stage has already been partially set for the events that led to Owein’s fate. InThe Shadow Rising, Owein was killed after Alanna and her Warders traveled to the Two Rivers to learn more about Rand and wound up in conflict with the Whitecloaks. This scenario is on track to happen now that Dain Bornhald -who knows where Perrin is from- has adopted a grudge against the character.With the Whitecloaks set to return to the Two Rivers and fight Perrin, there’s a sense that Alanna is about to tragically lose one of her Warders.
Either Of Alanna’s Warders Could Get Owein’s Death In Season 3
Because the books - and Owein’s connection to Maksim - so clearly point to his death happening inThe Wheel of Timeseason 3, it won’t be a surprise if the show pulls a twist and allows Ihvon to receive this moment in his place. What’s most important, of course, is that Alanna loses a Warder in the Two Rivers. Exactly which one it will be is of less significance, hence why the show could easily kill off Ihvon and keep Maksim. The sheer possibility ofWheel of Timetaking this direction should enable the series to maintain a level of suspense if and when Alanna and her Warders join Perrin in the Two Rivers.
