However,Twistersblew away its projections with $81 million, delivering the best opening weekend ever for a disaster film. Additionally, it beat the original movie’s $41 million opening weekend from 1996 which, when adjusted for inflation, would be around the same as the sequel’s.
The sequel’s $81 million debut is also the third-biggest opening weekend of 2024 behindDune: Part Two($82 million) andInside Out 2($154 million).
