LIVE

STAY

This one was a little easier today, as none of the other words seemed to have the same connotation. All of these words I felt were safe enough to guesstogether as residing somewhere. DWELL is perhaps the biggest potential false trail here, as there are three other words with the “DW” beginning. This could be a category in other circumstances, but it is not in this particular circumstance.

DWINDLE

EBB

There is a fairly good theme here, with one of those DW words in here as well in the form of DWINDLE. DECLINE, DROP, and EBB all felt very similarly to me, with EBB being perhaps the least similar. It’s more of apotential flow than it is a full decrease, but it was enough to make me guess this one. Plus, it is nice that we got both EBB and SEA in this puzzle. I am a big fan of strong theming.

NYT Mini Crossword: 8 Strategies To Solve It Fast

This tricky little five by five crossword isn’t always as easy as it looks; here are a couple easy tips and tricks to beat your friends' times!

SAP

TURKEY

This one was a little tricky - there’s another one of the DW words to trip you up, as well as one word that is not as known as the others. While three of these are fairly well-used as referencing aperson who is a type of doofus in pop culture, SAP is not as often used.

Some of these words are slightly more insulting than others, so, maybe don’t go around calling people these names.

SIN

WONDER

I got to this category last and did not think much about it, just clicked all the words and submitted my guess. However, looking back on it now it actually makes a lot of sense and maybe I should have clocked this one. All of these arefairly popular groups of seven, and it feels a little easier than other purple categories. Of course, you have the last DW word here as well, so there are still some tricky bits, but avoiding those will help.
