The entire story of the album revolves around a patient, who, in the opening track “The End.,” addresses the audience and describes their imminent death. Throughout this first song, a heart monitor can be heard beeping, which reveals that the patient is still currently living. Then, the second track, titled “Dead!,” opens with the monitor flatlining, which indicates the patient has passed away, and the real story begins.The Umbrella Academyhas always played with some of the characters teetering on the edge of death, and in Klaus' case, his power evolving to allow him to come back from the dead indefinitely.
