Star Wars' Wookiee Jedi Is Finally Going To Cut Loose
Not much has been revealed about the plot of theKelnaccaone-shot, but the preview openswith the Wookiee Jedi in the middle of a fierce battle. With a Padawan by his side, Kelnacca appears to be fighting the Nihil. The Nihil are the most prominent villainsof the High Republic era. They are a group of marauders and pirates who hate the Republic and terrorize the Outer Rims. They originated from a cult known as the Path of the Open Hand, which revered the Force but hated the Jedi.
While the battle scene allows fans to seeKelnacca flipping around and slashing the villains with his lightsaber, the rest of the preview is much calmer. The Padawan is seen running toward another Jedi, then turning to spot Kelnacca standing behind them. The Padawn is initially (and understandably) startled by the intimidating sight of the Wookiee as he stares them down. Kelnacca then wordlessly turns to walk away before the Padawn goes running after him.

Star Wars' Wookiee Jedi Breaks George Lucas' Strangest Rule
Despite The Acolyte aligning with the earliest eras of Star Wars canon, the Wookiee Jedi Kelnacca breaks one of George Lucas’ oldest rules.
Kelnacca’s Comic Should SatisfyThe AcolyteViewers Who Wanted More
In the lead-up to the release ofThe Acolyte, fans were excited by marketing materials that promised they would get their first glimpse of a Wookiee Jedi in live-action. However, some were left disappointed by how little Kelnacca appearedin the show. Kelnacca is one of the four Jedi involved in the tragic events on Brendock 16 years before the series begins. By the time the series starts, he has exiled himself on the forest planet of Khofar. Mae sets out to find and kill him, while Sol, Osha and the other Jedi attempt to prevent this from happening. By the time they arrive at Kelnacca’s home, he has already been killed by the series' Sith villain, the Stranger.
The show does eventually show Kelnacca in action during flashbacks, butof all the main characters on the show, he is the one fans learn the least about. This is to be expected, to a degree, since he speaks the Wookiee language of Shyriiwook without any subtitles to translate what he’s saying. However, nowStar Warsis finally letting us know what was seen inThe Acolyte, and if this preview is anything to go by, there should be plenty of Wookiee lighstaber battles to satisfy readers.

Kelnaccawill be available on September 4 from Marvel Comics.
