Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: The High Republic #10
Summary
The Jedi of the High Republic Era are finally making a comeback against their biggestStar Warsrivals. Despite being an era of relative peace and prosperity, the High Republic Era did have its fair share of chaos and violence at its close. Not only does this include the events ofThe Acolyte, but also the period set 100 years prior that’s been covered in the High Republic books and comics that have been published since 2021’sLight of the Jedi. Keeping that in mind, one of the newest issues from Cavan Scott’sHigh Republiccomic series finally sees the Jedi on the rise.
Since the fall of the Republic and the Jedi Order’s shining Starlight Beacon, the Nihil marauders have steadily grown in power during theHigh Republic Era.Led by the fearsome Marchion Ro, the Nihil have walled off their very own region of space known as “The Occlusion Zone”, and also have control over the deadly Force-draining predators known as the Nameless or Shrii-Ka-Rai, effectively keeping the Jedi away. However, that hasn’t stopped Jedi Master Keeve Trennis and her fellow allies from not only entering the Occlusion Zone but also taking Ro’s leading scientist, Baron Boolan, captive:

Despite having defied the orders of the Jedi Council by infiltrating the Occlusion Zone,Keeve believes the Order will still take them back, now that they’ve taken Boolan prisonerwho can finally help them combat both the Nihil and their Force-eating predators.
Star Wars Movies In Order: How To Watch Release Order, Chronologically & With The TV Shows
What’s the best way to watch Star Wars? Here’s everything you need to know to watch in release or timeline order, and how to include the TV shows.
The Nihil Have Continued To Plague The Galaxy Since The High Republic Phase I
And They’ve Only Grown More Powerful…
Using new technologies that will eventually be intentionally erased and forgotten by the time of the Skywalker saga, the Nihil marauders are quite the force to be reckoned with. Through the leadership of Marchion Ro, the Nihil have evolved from a band of marauders to a far more organized militia, openly defying both the Republic and the Jedi Order. Installing new ministers to help advance and maintain control over the world trapped in the Occlusion Zone, one of these ministers was Baron Boolan, Minister of Advancement.
Through his dark work and experiments,Boolan found ways to make the Nameless even more durable and easier for the Nihil to control. Boolan also led the Children of the Storm, Jedi hunters who went out and brought him Force users for him to darkly experiment on. This certainly means that he’s one of the most effective and valued members of Ro’s inner circle within the Zone.

The Jedi Have Finally Captured Baron Boolan
Who Can Control The Nihil’s Greatest Weapons
Now that Keeve and company have captured Baron Boolan, the Jedi finally stand a real chance at neutralizing the threat of the Nameless. Even before the issue’s final page, the Jedi’s new advantage was already teased when Keeve’s former master Sskeer uses Boolan’s technology to send the Nameless away from his fellow Jedi, suggesting the Trandoshan’s recent immunity to the creatures (due to a loss in Sskeer’s own Force-sensitivity) was perhaps fate. At any rate, a captive Baron Boolan is more than likely the start of the Jedi finally gaining some headway toward reclaiming the High Republic galaxy from the Nihil marauders.
