Star Trek: Lower Decksfinally paid off a promise made toStar Trek: Deep Space Nine’s Quark (Armin Shimerman). InLower Decksseason 3, episode 6, “Hear All, Trust Nothing”, the USS Cerritos docked at Deep Space Nine to oversee important trade negotiations between the Federation and the Karemma. While Captain Carol Freeman (Dawnn Lewis) and Colonel Kira Nerys (Nana Visitor) met with the Karemma representatives, the Lower Deckers spent time exploring the legendary space station.
Star Trek: Lower Decks' Deep Space Nine episode revealed what had happened to the space station after theFederation’s war against the Dominion. It was heartening to see that the space station was still a thriving multicultural hub in the years afterStar Trek: Deep Space Nineended.Lower Decksalso provided an update on some ofDS9’s cast of characters, including Ferengi bartender Quark, who finally saw an old promise fulfilled.

Star Trek: Lower Decks' DS9 Episode Paid Off O’Brien’s Promise To Quark

Chief O’Brien (Colm Meaney) convinces Quark to install the dart board at his bar inStar Trek: Deep Space Nineseason 3, episode 17, “Visionary”. While Quark is unconvinced, Chief O’Brien tells him that dart boards are synonymous with bars, and it will lead to profit for the Ferengi bartender. Despite this, Quark is still skeptical of the Chief’s plan, and both men have an exchange that takes on new meaning in light ofStar Trek: Lower Decks' DS9 episode.

O’BRIEN: Trust me. They will.
While it’s true that it’s generally justChief O’Brien and Doctor Bashir playing dartsat Quark’s Bar, this promise did eventually pay off. InStar Trek: Lower Decksseason 3, episode 6, “Hear All, Trust Nothing”, the Lower Deckers are putting together an itinerary for their visit to Deep Space Nine. Ensign Sam Rutherford (Eugene Cordero) is very keen to see Chief O’Brien’s dart board, which means that, finally, somebody did go into Quark’s bar and ask to see the dart board.
Worf (Michael Dorn) was the only otherStar Trek: Deep Space Ninecharacter seen to play darts at Quark’s Bar.

Quark Turned DS9 Into A Tourist Attraction In Star Trek: Lower Decks
Quark’s time on DS9 was very profitable.
Star Trek: Lower Decks' Deep Space Nine episode revealed that Quark had effectively turned the station into a huge tourist attraction. In the years afterStar Trek: Deep Space Nine’s ending, Quark’s Bar now has a massive gift shop installed where visitors can take home various souvenirs. While it’s still a prime location for important Federation business,Deep Space Nine is now also a site of historical significance, and a source of massive profits for Quark. However, the station isn’t the only way that Quark has profited from his close ties toDS9’s heroes.
Quark also has a chain of Starfleet themed restaurants called Quark’s Federation Experience Bar and Grill.
Star Trek: Lower Deckshas revealed that Quark is marketing and mass-producing models of Deep Space Nine, as well as an interactive board game hosted by a holographic representation of Chancellor Martok (J.G. Hertzler). InLower Decksseason 4, episode 6, “Parth Ferengi’s Heart Place”, it was revealed that Quark also has a chain of Starfleet themed restaurants called Quark’s Federation Experience Bar and Grill. The events ofStar Trek: Deep Space Ninewere very profitable for Quark, who has cashed in on Federation citizens' appetites for the myths and legends of some of Starfleet’s greatest heroes.
