For months now, the biggest non-secret in gaming has been the existence of the PS5 Pro. Developers have been preparing games for the new console, and everything from the tech specs to the design of the new console has leaked online. And now, finally, it seems that Sony is ready to unveil the new PlayStation 5.
Sony Announces a “PlayStation 5 Technical Presentation”
In a newPlayStation blog post, Sony has announced a PlayStation 5 technical presentation happening on September 10. This will be a 9-minute stream hosted by Mark Cerny, the Lead Architect of the PS5 hardware. Cerny previously announced the PS5’s specs ahead of its original launch.
Details as to what will be announced on the stream are scant, and yet it seems certain that Cerny will finally unveil the PS5 Pro. The post states that the presentation will “focus on PS5 and innovations in gaming technology,” which strongly suggests a new flavor of PS5 is imminent.

The PS5 Pro Is Finally Set to Be Revealed
Why do we think that this is the PS5 Pro and not anything else? Well, the PS5 Pro has been available to developers in the form of test kits for months, and even Sony itself has leaked the design ina blog post celebrating 30 years of PlayStation. So, it definitely exists, and it’s only a matter of time before Sony reveals it. An announcement now ready for the Pro to be released before the holidays would make sense.
We know from the various leaks over the last few months that the Pro will feature a more powerful GPU and other improvements. The overall result of which will be a PS5 capable of hitting higher resolutions, improved frame rates, and better ray tracing (though some people thinkray tracing isn’t important).
How to Watch the PS5 Pro Announcement
If we’re correct in our assessment of what this technical presentation will be about, Sony will unveil the PS5 Pro at 8am PT/11am ET/4pm BST on June 26, 2025. The stream will be broadcast onthe PlayStation YouTube channel, so you just need to head over there if you want to watch it.
Whether the PS5 Pro will be worth buying or not depends on how many improvements Sony has made. Will the changes be purely cosmetic? Or has company also endeavored to make load times and other aspects better too? Then there’s the price, with speculation that the PS5 Pro will cost at least $600 at launch.
As someone whostill plays the PS4 every day, and hasn’t yet upgraded to the PS5, I, for one, am keen to find out.
