Summary
With four successful seasons already under its belt, Hulu has confirmedSolar Oppositeswill return for season 6. Led by Dan Stevens, Thomas Middleditch, Sean Giambrone and Mary Mack, the show revolves around a family of aliens who bring their sci-fi hijinks to Earth when their home planet is destroyed by an asteroid. Following the Valentine’s Day special in February 2024,Solar Oppositesseason 5is gearing up to release in August and explore Terry and Korvo’s married life, and the ongoing war in The Wall.
Now, during the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel, of whichScreen Rantwas in attendance,Huluannounced thatSolar Oppositeshas been renewed for season 6. The announcement was made in a special video by Stevens, which was shown during the panel. In addition to season 6, it was revealed that aSolar OppositesHalloween special will arrive later this year following season 5’s release, marking the show’s fourth holiday special, though no exact release date was announced at this time.
Solar Opposites Is On Track For A Major Hulu Record
Beyond continuing the show’s trend of getting early renewals from the streamer,Solar Oppositesseason 6’s confirmation is putting it on track to set a major Hulu record of being its longest-running show. At the time of writing,The Handmaid’s Taleis currently the longest-running title for the streaming platform, with the upcoming season 6 bringing it to somewhere between 66 and 70 episodes.Solar Opposites, on the other hand, currently consists of 41 released episodes, with season 5 bringing it up to 53 episodes. While the dystopian drama holds the record for now, though, the animated comedy show does seem prime to overtake it at some point.The Handmaid’s Taleseason 6 will serve as the show’s final season, though Hulu is currently developing its sequel novel,The Testaments, for an adaptation following its mainline show’s conclusion.
