Summary

With the introduction of an entirely new progression system inElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, it can be hard to know if it’s possible to be overleveled for the DLC - especially past the “standard” endgame level of 150. With the bosses and enemies inShadow of the Erdtreebringing a new level of challenge to the game, some players may find themselves split between wanting as much power as possible and wanting to still retain the DLC’s difficulty by not being too high of a level.

In the base game ofElden Ring, a Rune Level of 150 ended up being one of the de facto stopping points for many players, as it’s the point where players can hit softcaps on multiple stats, comfortably be able to beat most of the game’s later bosses, and stay within the level ranges of other players for PVP or co-op purposes. With the addition of theShadow Realm Blessing inShadow of the Erdtree, though, it can be hard to know if it’s still worth engaging with the normal leveling system for players who’ve already reached a high enough level.

How Many Scadutree Blessing Levels Are In Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree offers players a brand new buff called the Scadutree Blessing which can be leveled up to give them some major perks.

Leveling Takes A Backseat In Shadow Of The Erdtree

Scadutree Blessing Levels Matter More Than Rune Levels In Elden Ring DLC

InShadow of the Erdtree,Scadutree Blessing levels contribute significantly more to a character’s power level than individual Rune Levels past 150. Especially when leveling any stat past its designated softcap, Rune Levels inElden Ringhave significant diminishing returns, and past level 150, players may want to spend their runes on resources like crafting materials, consumables, or upgrade materials - especially since the high cost of leveling will mean that even some bosses won’t give enough runes for a single level.

However, though the power difference might be minimal, players may still want to invest runes in levels- many weapons inShadow of the Erdtreehave multiple stat requirements, and putting points towards stats that players may not have invested in can allow them to use some of the interesting new tools that the DLC has to offer. Additionally, while the impact of individual levels is minimal past a certain point, there can still be a noticeable power differential between a level 150 character and a character that’s reached level 200by the end of the DLC.

AsShadow of the Erdtreeis intended for late-game characters, players will want, at minimum, to reach the softcaps in their main damage stats, and it’s highly recommended to have at least 60 vigor.

Additionally, regardless of level, the DLC will still maintain some level of challengefor most players, especially on higher NG+ cycles - where even players who’ve reached the max possible level of 713, with 99 points in every stat, may find themselves dying very quickly. Essentially,Shadow of the Erdtreeis balanced so heavily around Scadutree Blessing levels that players at almost any level above 150 will find it to be beatable, but challenging, provided that they’re using the Scadutree Fragments that they find.

How Higher Levels Affect Multiplayer In Elden Ring

Leveling Up In Elden Ring’s DLC May Prevent Players From Engaging In Multiplayer

Outside the DLC’s content, leveling will also have an effect on a player’s ability to engage withElden Ring’s multiplayer systemslike PVP and summoning. For PVP purposes, the generally agreed-upon levels range from 125 to 150, so players who want to use the new weapons and spells offered byShadow of the Erdtreein PVP may not want to level past that point. While there is some population for duels, colosseum matches, or invasions at higher levels, players who reach those higher levels will likely find themselves having to wait longer for matches.

On the other hand,Elden Ring’s cooperative play has a generally broader level range. While players may still find it hard to find or provide assistance as they reach uncommonly high levels, finding summon signs for difficult bosses or areas is still generally easier than trying to find a match for PVP. Additionally, making use of a multiplayer password allows players to engage in co-op regardless of any level differential, so co-op play doesn’t completely go out the window even at the highest possible level.

With the addition of alternative progression systems inShadow of the Erdtree, the importance of levels after around 150 is heavily deemphasized. While they can still make a difference in allowing players to wield certain weapons or generally boosting stats, the DLC can still provide more than a healthy challenge for even max-level players, and as long as players hit softcaps in their main stats, they won’t be underleveled either. Past a certain point, the choice to level or not inElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtreeis mostly up to player preference.
