Speaking withCBR, Chris Sheridan has spoken of the unexplored dynamics that remain largely untapped within the world ofResident Alienso far. When doing so, he specifically referenced the fact thatMike and Asta’s interactions have been incredibly limited, and how exciting such a character pairing would be going intoResident Alienseason 4. With so few new combinations left between the show’s main figures, this would indeed be an interesting dynamic to delve into.
“There are dynamics we definitely haven’t explored yet. We haven’t done a lot with Asta and Sheriff Mike yet, which going into season 4, is exciting. It’s looking for those combinations that are fun to watch.”
Sara Tomko’s Asta is most commonly paired with Alan Tudyk’s Harry Vanderspeigle or Alice Wetterlund’s D’arcy Bloom, although she does share scenes with a variety of otherResident Aliencharacters. So,Mike’s role as the town’s Sheriff sees him teaming up almost exclusively with his trusty deputy- Elizabeth Bowen’s Liv Baker. Mike and Liv’s friendship and working dynamic have bloomed brilliantly overResident Alienseasons 1-3, which is only really surprising because Mike is so headstrong. So it would be cool to see what his pairing with Asta would initially look like and what it could lead to.

There is a very obvious reason why Mike and Asta haven’t crossed paths all that much before now. Before theResident Alienseason 3 finale,Corey Reynolds' character was a staunch believer that alien life was a thing of fiction. Much of the goings-on he ends up investigating are related to alien activity in some way, without him ever working it out. So, pairing him with Asta, someone who regularly deals with extraterrestrial affairs, would have made for a strange coming together of worlds.
With “Homecoming” suggesting a team-up between Liv and Terry Quinn’s Alien Tracker, the sheriff and his deputy no longer need to be joined at the hip.

Now that he and Asta are on the same page, there will be far less of a divide between them. One possible storyline could be Mike and Asta looking into why “Harry” is acting so differently, and eventually discovering it’s actually the Mandtid in disguise. Why Mike & Asta Would Make A Great Pairing In Resident Alien Season 4
Asta & Mike’s similarities would create many comical scenarios
Mike and Asta are both incredibly stubborn. While they can both often come out on top in arguments with their more traditional scene partners, it’s tough to imagine who would win a debate between Mike and Asta. The friction that would be created between them by even the most subtle differences of opinion would result in some very funny moments. While Asta may be able to bring Harry around to her way of thinking, there’s no guarantee she’d be able to do the same with Mike. In short,an Asta/Mike team-up would mean both characters meeting their match.
Resident Alien Season 4 Already Set Up The Show’s Next Best Sci-Fi Guest Star
Resident Alien has already had several sci-fi stars appear in guest roles, but the show’s next big cameo could come from an unexpected place.
Mike and Asta aren’t the only unseen pairing that would work well, but the reasons would be similar.D’arcy and Sheriff Mike would also have a very similar dynamic, if not even more intense when it came to disagreements. While Asta has been known to acquiesce at times to keep the peace, D’arcy is far less likely than her friend to give up any ground if she thinks she’s in the right. As such,Resident Alienseason 4 would do well to pair Mike with as many new characters as possible - maybe even Harry.
