With several tasks to take on and some great rewards on offer for finishing them all, it’s definitely worth taking the time to complete this Special Research story.
The monthly Community Days are some of the most popular events inPokémon GO. For just three hours, Trainers can focus on catching a specific Pokémon, getting enough Candy to evolve them, andteaching them a featured attack. The latest Community Day features Tynamo and takes place onJuly 21, 2024, from 2 PM to 5 PM. Most of this Special Research story revolves around catching or evolving Tynamo, with the rewards on offer including loads of useful items and even more encounters with the featured Pokémon. You can see all of the tasks and rewards in each step below:

For completing this step you’ll be rewarded with3,000 Stardust, a Tynamo encounter, and one Incense.

For completing this step you’ll be rewarded with4,500 XP, a Tynamo encounter, and one Egg Incubator.
Evolve an Eelektrik
50 Tynamo Candy
For completing this step you’ll be rewarded with4,500 Stardust, an Eelektrik encounter, and a Rocket Radar.
Claim Reward!
2 Silver Pinap Berries
For completing this step you’ll be rewarded with5,500 XP, an Eelektross encounter, and three Rare Candy.
Because this is a Special Research story and not Timed Research, you’re able to complete these tasks at your own pace. There’s no expiration date. Having said that, most of these tasks will be easier to complete when there are lots of Tynamo spawning in the wild, so it’s a good idea to try and finish as many as you can during the July 2024 Community Day event.
Pokémon encounters that you get as rewards for completing Special Research tasks usually have better IVs than those found in the wild, so give them an appraisal and see if they’re worth evolving.
How To Get The Watts Up Special Research Story
The main way to get a ticket for the July 2024 Community Day Special Research story is topurchase it from the in-game Shop. It costs $1 (£0.99) or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency. Once you’ve done this, you’ll also need tolog in toPokémon GOduring the Tynamo Community Day event. As a reminder, this runs from 2 PM to 5 PM on Sunday, August 23, 2025.
You can also gift a Special Research story to a friend from the in-game Shop. It was previously possible to get a free Special Research story by checking into a Community Ambassador-hosted eventusing the Campfire App, but there’s no sign of that happening for July 2024’s Community Day event inPokémon GO.
