Sootseer Pal Features & Abilities In Palworld
Dark/Fire-type Elemental Pal
Sootseer has a useful amount of Work Suitability, making for a competent worker at yourbase inPalworld. If you’re hunting Sootseer Pals for their drops, you’reguaranteed to acquire certain goods from killing them, which are incredibly useful for crafting and farming.
Crude Oil is also a new and rare material, only found on Sakurajima Island. To craft it manually, you will need an Oil Extractor which is only available at Level 50. With Sootseer’s 50% drop rate, which is considerably high, it’s a valuable Pal to go after for these resources.

Aside from its unique drops and work abilities, it still proves excellent as a Pal to add to your party for combat purposes. While its defense isn’t the best, it boasts a fairly good health pool along withpowerful attack types that complement one another, especially when leveled up. The table below provides Sootseer’s base stats and attributes (without considering Passive Skills).

Sootseer Combat Skills
Sootseer has a balanced roster of both Dark and Fire-based skillsthat can be expanded by utilizingSkill Fruits inPalword. These skills make for a strong fighter, especiallyagainst Grass, Ice, and Neutral Pals. However, keep Sootseer away from Dragon and Water-type Pals, which it will likely perish against due to its vulnerability to these Pal types.
Sootseer’s Partner Skill can only be activated when it is assigned to a Ranch. Occasionally, it will dig up Bones for you, a useful crafting material used to make Cement. The only way to organically get Bones is to defeat a Pal that drops it, or buy them from Wandering Merchants. Therefore, having Sootseer dig these up for you at your base is a large time and Gold-saver.

The table below showcases all Sootseer’s Active Skills inPalworld, which it can learn as it grows and levels up while in your party:

Where To Find Sootseer In Palworld
At Night on Sakurajima Island
Sootseeris exclusively found withinSakurajima Island inPalworld, a new region located in thenorthwest on the map of the Palpagos Islands. It is found in a fairly small region, and only comes out at night, adding an extra challenging layer to players who may have traveled from far and wide to hunt this Pal down.
To make things easier for yourself, you’re able to increase your chances of encountering a Sootseer Pal by changing your world settings. Extend the nighttime period and shorten the daytime, to give yourself ample time to locate a Sootseer Pal.
When you arrive at Sakurajima Island, head toMoonshrine Cemetary, the graveyard where Sootseer spawns, and unlock the fast-travel point located there. This will allow you to frequently return at will from your base, and avoid the long venture of traveling back if your first attempt at catching Sootseer fails.

How To Catch Sootseer In Palworld
Use An Ultimate Or Legendary Pal Sphere
While Sootseer is located far away from where most players set up their base and is rare to find, the one advantage of hunting this Pal is that ittends to roam the land alone. What’s more, there are no other hostile creatures within its spawning area.
This makes Sootseer vulnerable compared to otherPals inPalworldthat roam in packs. Catching it will therefore be a less daunting feat, especially if you have the right equipment and setup, to increase your odds of taming it.
As with many Pals that inhabit Sakurajima Island, Sootseer’s capture rate is fairly low, so a standard Pal Sphere simply won’t do the trick. Use an Ultimate or Legendary Pal Sphere for the best results.
Fight Sootseer With Dragon & Water-type Pals
To exploit its vulnerabilities, ensure you bring Pals in your party that Sootser is weak against. Some good examples are Jormuntide, one of the bestWater-type Pals inPalworld, and Chillet, a Dragon-type Pal. Azurobe is potentially the best option, asthis Pal is a Dragon-/Water-type Pal, meaning it has both of Sootseer’s weaknesses rolled into one formidable foe.
Several of Sootseer’s skills have the ability to track enemies, so make sure to watch out for these moves.Sootseer’s AoE attacks also prove to be strongand can be devastating if your Pals get caught in the crossfire. Fortunately, its low defense stat means you won’t need to land too many hits to weaken it and get it ready for capture.
Be extremely cautious when fighting Sootseer and avoid killing it with overpowered attacks. Aim to chip its health down, low enough to boost your capture rate. If you’re concerned about the risk of accidentally killing it, equipping theRing of Mercy inPalworldwill prevent you from knocking out a Pal when attacking it.
How To Breed Sootseer In Palworld
Put Sootseer’s Parent Combos In A Breeding Farm
With the abundance of new Pals found on Sakurajima Island, many newbreeding combos inPalworldhave been added to the game. This makes for exciting opportunities to produce cute Pal hatchlings right at your base, without the need to continuously return to the island.
Fortunately, Sootseer can be hatched by a breadth of Pal pairings, so you may not even need to venture to the new island in the first place, as long as you have the necessary parent combos at your base. As of writing, there areapproximately 125 parent breeding possibilities, but the list below has narrowed it down to include the easiest Pals to obtain for the process:
DrybearGamerson YouTube recommends thebest setup for your breeding base should include a Ranch, where grazing Pals will be stationed, along with a Wheat Field and a Red Berry farm. This is because each of these farms will drop the necessary ingredients (x8 Eggs, x7 Milk, x2 Honey, and x3 Red Berries) used to make Cake, the keyfood item inPalwoldused in a Breeding farm.
The breeding farm itself can be constructed out of x100 Wood, x20 Stone, and x50 Fiber, once players have reached Level 19.
To breed your Sootseer hatchling, simply place the Cake into the Breeding Farm Chest and select any Pal pairing you have at hand, directing them towards the farm until you see a’Breeding’indicator in the center of the farm. Once the egg forms, place it in anEgg Incubator inPalworldand wait until your baby Sootseer Pal hatches.
