Spacefarers who have completed their probationary Trackers Alliance mission have the option of accepting elite bounties at the Trackers Alliance HQ, but they also have another option for collecting bounties. Trackers have the ability to use their scanners in populated areas, revealing bounty targets hiding in plain sight.
When a bounty target is scanned, their name, bounty reward, and list of crimes will appear. Most of these crimes are ones which would be expected to result in a bounty, like armed robbery or grand larceny, but some ofthese crimes are out of place in comparison.

Other than the more serious crimes like murder,Bethesda seems to have added a list of joke crimes toStarfield. One of the better ones is “talking in a movie theater,” a truly heinous crime to avid moviegoers. WhileStarfielddoes not reveal how much each crime has contributed to an overall bounty, their mere inclusion makes them at least notable, and it certainly adds some levity to the game.
People who are tired of scam calls about extended warranties on their vehicles can also rejoice, asanother crime that can appear is “selling fake ‘used ship’ warranties.“While this digs at the real-life instances of telemarketing scams, it also calls to one of therandom events which can occur inStarfield. When in orbit around a planet, a Spacefarer can run into an unknown ship who offers to sell an “extended warranty” for tens of thousands of credits. Of course, this warranty does nothing but drain the player’s bank account.
There is another crime which is sure to disappoint fans of dance. In the Settled Systems,“impersonating a robot"is apparently illegal. It is unclear whether this crime refers to the robot dance, speaking in a robotic manner, or both. On the bright side, this means Vasco can be less concerned about the threat of identity theft.

Bounty scanning reveals the terrible crimes a person has committed, but it also serves other functions.It can be a quick way to get a few thousand creditswith relatively little time investment. Beyond that, confronting targets can also be used tocomplete Persuasion challengesin a relatively low-risk environment.
If players want to collect some easy credits, level their Persuasion, or just see what seemingly harmless activities have become illegal in the 24th century, there are a few areas which commonly host bounty targets. The absolute best location is Neon Core on Volii Alpha. This is a small, heavily populated area, and the entire length of the location can be walked in less than a minute. Players can also hunt down the true menaces ofStarfield’s Settled Systems in the New Atlantis Residential District on Jemison.

According to Bethesda, players can explore over 100 systems and 1000 planets to find resources and build their ships, living out their own sci-fi journeys.
