What Introducing Castiel Meant For Supernatural
The Winchester Brothers Received A New Ally
The introduction ofCastiel inSupernaturalmarked a turning point in the series. Although Sam and Dean Winchesterdid have other allies, including expert hunter Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver), Castiel was someone who would regularly go with the brothers on their adventures. Since much of the series had the Winchesters fighting demons, Castiel was able to give them first-hand knowledge about demons and angels that they wouldn’t have without him. Prior to Castiel, Sam and Dean usually had to rely on Bobby’s expertise or their late father’s hunting journal.
The 8 Supernatural Moments That Defined The Show
Supernatural is hard to define due to an incredibly long run, and a mix of genres and stories taking place throughout, but there are defining moments.
Castiel also allowed the show’s writers to tell different types of stories that they wouldn’t have been able to with Sam and Dean. Throughout the series, Castiel would often learn what human life was like through the eyes of an angel. This also included times when Castiel would lose his powers and become human himself.

Our Take On Castiel Being Brought Into Supernatural
Collins' Character Was A Welcome Addition To The Series
While the introduction of Castiel wasa huge change for Supernatural, the character became a welcome addition. For the rest of the show’s run,Castiel remained one ofSupernatural’s most important characters. Throughout the show, Castiel being confused about how humans live serves as comic relief. He also helped give the long-running series more variety whenever Sam or Dean had to split up and work with Castiel instead of each other.
Although Sam and Dean’s strong brotherhood was the heart of the series, Castiel would often show how much he cared about the Winchesters. Whenever one of the Winchesters was in danger, Castiel would often be as concerned as the other brother. Castiel would also challenge Sam and Dean about a decision they were going to make, whenever it seemed like it was made impulsively and could put others at risk. While the first three seasons followed the Winchesters without him, it’s hard to imagineSupernaturalwithout Sam and Dean being joined by Castiel.
