Claudia’s Last Look At Lestat Was A Perfect Ending To Her Story

A vampire condemned to exist for eternity trapped inside the body of a child, Claudia was a tragic character from the very first. Her quest to find other vampires, seeking a companion besides Louis, who she knew would always belong to Lestat, led her to Europe, and ultimately to the coven. But acceptance still did not come, as the coven humiliated her, forcing her to portray a pathetic version of herself on stage, to the delight of audiences, but the disgust of Claudia.

It seemed clear that Claudia was always doomed, but there seemed at least a sliver of a chance that she might make it when she found Madeleine, convincing Louis to turn her into a vampire. Armand and the coven would not let Claudia have happiness, however, forcing her and Louis to stand trial for their crimes against vampire law. The return ofLestatonly added to Claudia’s suffering, as she was forced to relive the turmoil of her existence.
