One of the best parts about season 1 of Netflix’sOne Piecewas how it expanded on the lore of the East Blue saga. Season 1 included elements original to the series like Garp and the prejudice people have toward fishmen, things that, in hindsight, should have appeared in the anime and manga, and the story being told was much richer for their inclusion.

Netflix’sOne Piecehas benefited well from over 20 years of hindsight regardingOne Piece’s story, and season 2 has the chance to do the same.Season 2 of Netflix’sOne Pieceis set to go from Loguetown to Drum Island, and while most of its stories will seem standalone, veteran fans know the biggest ways they’ll become important years down the line. As such,One Pieceseason 2 could make its story even better by including a special cameo of one ofOne Piece’s best characters, and that would be great to see for old and new fans alike.

How & Why One Piece Season 2 Should Include A Brook Cameo

Why One Piece Season 2 Needs A Brook Cameo

One of the later members of the Straw Hat Pirates is Brook, a sword-fighting musician who became a living skeleton thanks to his Revive-Revive Fruit, and his entire existence is a callback to earlyOne Piece. In the Reverse Mountain arc, the Straw Hats met Laboon, a whale who had been waiting 50 years for the pirate crew he befriended to return from the Grand Line, and when Brook was introduced almost a decade later, it was revealed thatOne Piece’sBrookwas the last surviving member of the Rumbar Pirates, the pirate crew Laboon befriended years before the story.

Not only is Laboon’s story one of the most notable examples of a seemingly innocuous story beat inOne Piecebecoming important years later, but with it involving the backstory of a main character like Brook, it’s arguably one of the most important examples. VeteranOne Piecefans will love watching the Reverse Mountain arc play out in live-action just because they already know what’s coming, and with that in mind,One Pieceseason 2 should include a Brook cameo to both give fans a bit of fanservice and add more depth to Laboon’s story for later down the line.

Vincent Regan as Garp in Netflix’s One Piece live-action adaptation

As for how season 2 could work in a Brook cameo, that would be fairly easy, as well. The introduction of Crocus and Laboon included flashbacks to their time with the Rumbar Pirates, albeit without the crew being fully defined, soOne Pieceseason 2 can fit in a Brook cameo by including him in Crocus and Laboon’s flashbacks to their time with the Rumbar Pirates. Brook’s advanced age and status as a living skeleton would even justify a potential change in actors later down the line, so overall, there’s little reason not to make it happen.

One Piece Season 2 Having A Brook Cameo Would Fix One Of The Biggest 4Kids Mistakes

Another Way That 4Kids Entertainment Ruined One Piece

IfOne Pieceseason 2 did include a Brook cameo, then that would fix one of the most egregious mistakes made byOne Piece’s infamous 4Kids dub. 4Kids Entertainment was infamous for how often their anime would be hit with censorship and nonsensical editing, and for some reason, the Reverse Mountain arc was completely cut out, with Laboon becoming an iceberg Luffy destroyed. Granted, Brook hadn’t even appeared in Japan at that time, but it doesn’t change the fact thatthe edits that 4Kids Entertainment made toOne Piecemade it impossible for Brook to work in the story.

What 4Kids Entertainment was nothing short of a tragedy, and it’s why a Brook cameo would be so great to see. Including Reverse Mountain by itself is one thing, but including a Brook cameo, even for a split second, would show a level of commitment and faithfulness 4Kids never once considered, soOne Pieceseason 2 having a Brook cameo would be the ultimate catharsis for anyone who hated how much 4Kids Entertainment ruined the anime. 4Kids is probably the last thing on the showrunners’ minds, of course, but that doesn’t mean it would be any less great to see.

One Piece Season 1 Already Shows How Likely A Brook Cameo Is

One Piece Season 1 Is A Good Sign For A Brook Cameo

As previously stated, season 1 included things like Garp and people being prejudiced toward fishmen, both of which made sense as things to appear in the East Blue saga in hindsight, meaningthe wayOne Pieceseason 1was willing to incorporate future plot points into its story gives plenty of credence for season 2 to do the same with a Brook cameo. Naturally, there’s no way of knowing how things will go right now, but with how great Netflix’sOne Piecehas been at that sort of writing so far, it would be more than a welcome addition.
