Summary
ThroughoutRick and Morty’sseven seasons, there has been no shortage of great villains, which is why I still can’t believe one of its best antagonists hasn’t been in more episodes. The bizarre and unpredictable nature of the series means there are always new characters being introduced in almost every episode, many of who have helped contribute toRick and Morty’s weirdest storylines. With the show exploring multiple different dimensions, there have been plenty of fun personalities added to the franchise who I can’t get enough of; however, one iconic villain has had limited screen time despite their massive reputation.
Rick’s enemies have played a major part in the show’s overall story during each season, with some ofRick and Morty’s most powerful villainshaving reoccurring roles. Although the protagonists have frequently been portrayed as morally questionable, these antagonists help prove that there are much worse characters out there, giving Rick and Morty some redeemable qualities. Thankfully, most of the franchise’s main villains have been given memorable storylines and episodes during the show’s 11-year run, but this only makes me more shocked that Rick’s biggest nemesis has only had a handful of appearances.

Rick & Morty Season 8’s Villain Presents 1 Major Challenge Rick Prime Never Did
Rick Prime was a formidable Rick & Morty villain, but the upcoming villain of season 8 has a knowledge of Rick C-137 that will be even
Mr. Nimbus Is Too Great To Only Appear In 2 Episodes Of Rick & Morty
Mr. Nimbus Deserves A More Frequent Role In Rick & Morty
Despite Mr. Nimbus being one ofRick and Morty’s best characters, he has only officially appeared in two episodes of the show. His first appearance came during season 5’s “Mort Dinner Rick Andre”, where we learned more about his background and history with Rick. Mr. Nimbus' flamboyant and eccentric personality may make him seem like more of a gag character, but he has an incredibly personal past with Rick and is easily one of the show’s strongest characters. Not only does he possess complete power over the ocean, but he can also control the police and go toe-to-toe with Rick.
Rick and Mortyhasn’t explored Mr. Nimbus' full power, but the comics have helped display just how dangerous he is when he made Jerry’s head explode by manipulating the water in his body. He is the perfect blend of hilarious yet deadly, which makes it baffling that he only appeared once after his debut. After being mentioned in season 6’s “Full Metal Jackrick”, I was super excited to see him appear in the following episode. Sadly, he only had a brief cameo and hasn’t been seen since, which is disappointing considering how much entertainment he brings to the series.

Why Rick & Morty Doesn’t Focus On Mr. Nimbus More In Seasons 1-7
Rick & Morty Has Prioritized Other Key Villains Such As Rick Prime & Evil Morty
Although Mr. Nimbus is one of the franchise’s best villains,Rick and Mortyhasn’t focused on him much as it has had bigger stories going on. While he could have been used in more one-off episodes, his late introduction has left him little time to get integrated into the show’s deeper narrative, and even though I’d love to see him featured more prominently,Rick Prime and Evil Morty are the main reasonshe hasn’t been more involved. Evil Morty has been an overarching antagonist since the early seasons and remains one of the protagonists' key enemies heading into season 8.
Rick and Mortyseason 8 is scheduled to premiere in 2025.

Having operated in the background for several seasons, Evil Morty’s sinister plans have finally come together, and after acquiring The Omega Device, he is more dangerous than ever. Despite being arguably the show’s main villain, even he has taken a backseat in recent seasons, since Rick Prime has been at the center of the story. He was responsible for killing Rick’s wife, which is why the protagonist became so obsessed with him, andthis rivalry has left no real room for Mr. Nimbus. However,Rick Prime’s death in season7 does make space for a new key antagonist.
Rick Prime’s Death Means Mr. Nimbus Can Be Rick’s Nemesis In Future Seasons
Mr. Nimbus Would Be A More Light-Hearted Rival For Rick Going Forward
With Rick Prime out of the picture, Mr. Nimbus could be the perfect replacement to become Rick’s new nemesis. They already have an extensive history and Rick clearly has a level of respect and fear towards him, which would provide a new dynamic. The Rick vs Rick Prime storyline was quite dark for the show’s standards, and I thinkgoing in a more humorous direction with Rick and Mr. Nimbus trying to outdo one another could be a nice change of pace, especially asRick and Mortyalready need a new identity after the Justin Roiland controversy.
Evil Morty will still be involved in the story to provide a greater threat, but Mr. Nimbus becoming a series regular would make Rick more fun than he has been in recent seasons.
Seeing Rick go from facing a darker version of himself to a pretentious god of the ocean would be a refreshing shift and one that I think the franchise could pull off. Evil Morty will still be involved in the story to provide a greater threat, but Mr. Nimbus becoming a series regular would make Rick more fun than he has been in recent seasons. While I’m unsure ifRick and Mortywill go down this path, the franchise needs a fresh main villain after Rick defeated his greatest enemy, and I believe Mr. Nimbus could fill the role perfectly.
