Creating manga is an incredibly demanding career for any human being, especially for those who publish series weekly onShōnen Jump.Hunter x Hunterreleased weekly chapters for a good portion of its first few years in circulation, but it’s been releasing sporadically since 2006, with breaks lasting more than a year, sometimes longer. Severe and chronic issues with Togashi’s back have been cited as the health issues most responsible forHxH’s hiatuses, but the sheer amount of updates on the author’s social media account prove that he’s feeling well enough to spoil his fans in multiple ways.
Besides the encouraging developments toward releasing newHunter x Hunterchapters, the author has also been postingredrawn and recolored characters and artwork fromYu Yu Hakusho’s run. While it might be too hopeful to think that newYu Yu Hakushocontentis in the works, it’s a comfortable thought to know that the beloved series has been on Togashi’s mind as he continues to work on newHxHchapters.

In 2023, Netflix released a live-action TV series starring Takumi Kitamura, Shuhei Uesugi, Jun Shison, and Kanata Hongō.
