There are severalthings you can create in Canva with zero effort, and adding TypeCraft to your design is one of them.
TypeCraft is a third-party text app created by Zeppelin Labs that can be found on Canva. Its sole purpose is to give creators the opportunity to shape their text in any way they see fit for their designs. You can mold your words into any form you want while keeping the integrity of the text.
For example, do you have an open space on your design where you want to place a heading? You can add your text, choose your font, and then effortlessly warp it to match the open space.
Where to Find TypeCraft
There are two ways you can find the TypeCraft app on Canva—how you’ll open the app just depends on where you are in your project.
If you are starting from scratch, meaning you haven’t openedthe Canva Editor pageyet, you’ll start on Canva’s main page. On the left-hand side of the page, click onAppsin the main menu. If there are no options available to select, click on thethree-lined iconand the main menu should appear.
In the apps search bar, typeTypeCraftand pressEnter. Click on the TypeCraft app then selectUse in New Design. From here, you’re able to either choose the type of design you want to open or add custom dimensions.

If you already have a design open that you want to use TypeCraft on, you may selectUse in Existing Design.
you may also find the app on the Editor page. Suppose you’re in the middle ofcreating a flyer from a Canva template; simply open theAppstab on the left side of the screen and typeTypeCraftin the search bar. Click on the app to open it, and now you’re ready to go.
How to Use TypeCraft in Canva
Using TypeCraft is incredibly straightforward. Before applying customized text to your design, you’ll have to create it first.
When the TypeCraft app is open, you’ll see several categories to complete. First, type theTextthat you wish to add to your design. Keep in mind that each line of text will need its own TypeCraft application.
After typing in your text, choose yourFontandStyle. There are several fonts to choose from and each will look different if you add a style to it, so take your time browsing. Once you’ve completed that, choose your fontColor.
Editing the text shape is the most time-consuming process of using TypeCraft. To start customizing the text, grab a white dot with your cursor and move it.
Each white dot you see will alter the text based on your movement, so moving slowly is the best course of action here—especially if you have a specific shape you need it to be for your design. If you don’t like how the text is shaping up, you can always restart by clickingReset Shape.
When you’re happy with the results, clickAdd Element to Designand adjust accordingly.
