Temu’s deals are often unbeatable, and its product ratings are usually excellent. But take a closer look, and you’ll see that not all reviews are genuine. I’ve bought a few items on Temu over the years, and now I know how to watch out for these red flags and spot fake Temu reviews.

5Repetitive Reviews

What are the chances of different buyers using the same phrasing and words in their reviews? It’s pretty unlikely, if not downright impossible. Unfortunately, this is very much a problem on Temu, and I’ve seen it in the reviews section for multiple products.

To be fair, Temu allows users to choose from a list of preset phrases when leaving a review. Still, it’s hard to believe that so many buyers would choose the exact same phrases one after the other without any variation.

Multiple repetitive reviews for a product on Temu

If you’re looking to buy a product on Temu and see identical reviews of this sort, it’s best to be cautious and check out other products on Temu or browse similar platforms. 4Reviews With Coupon Codes

A tell-tale sign that a review is fake is if it includes a coupon code. Such reviews aren’t posted to help you make an informed buying decision. Rather, they’re meant to help the seller. These reviews are biased, which makes them unreliable.

This, of course, doesn’t have to be areason to stop shopping with Temu. But if you encounter such reviews, it’s best to skip the product entirely and look for similar products (maybe even elsewhere).

Two reviews without photos

3A Lack of Photos

Not every reviewer uploads photos, but photos add to the credibility of a review. They give you a glimpse of how the product actually looks and tell you how it compares to the photos uploaded by the manufacturer.

If you see multiple lengthy positive reviews for a product but none include real user photos, it could be a sign that something’s not quite right.

2The Reviewer Only Posts Five-Star Reviews

Temu allows you to click on a reviewer’s profile to see their review history. I recommend doing this for products with only a few reviews because it can help you gauge the credibility of the existing reviews. If the person’s review history has nothing but five-star ratings and glowing words of praise for several different products, that’s a potential red flag.

Sure, it’s possible for people to genuinely love every single product they purchase, but realistically, how likely is that, especially with online orders? I consider a reviewer credible if they have a mix of experiences and their reviews reflect that.

1Peculiar Misspellings

Misspellings, odd phrasing, and grammatical errors happen, especially when doing something as insignificant as leaving a review on an e-commerce platform. But if you see strange typos across multiple reviews, that’s worth looking into because it could indicate that the reviews were written by one person or generated by bots.

I know people who’ve beenscammed on Temu. But you don’t have to be one of them. If you exercise caution when selecting products and look out for fake reviews, you can still find great deals without getting burned.

And if you do end up purchasing a product with questionable reviews and it doesn’t live up to your expectations, consider requesting a refund or replacement for the item. Despite its reputation,Temu is a legit companyand generally has a decent customer service process in place to handle refunds and returns.
