Warning! Mentions of drug addiction and SPOILERS aboutFire Countryseason 3, episode 13 ahead.

Bode’s Cal Fire career started riddled with challenges inFire Countryseason 3, but the biggest was just inadvertently introduced by an unsuspecting and secondary character in season 3, episode 13. Bode’s first official shift as a Cal Fire firefighter inFire Countryseason 3, episode 8already put him and Audrey in stormy waters. Indeed,Bode’s need to save the day led him to disobey Sharon’s orders and stay at the house trying to save it from the fireonly to wait in the pool for the fire to decrease in strength so that he and Audrey could escape.

Another major hit wasRafael’s death inFire Countryseason 3, episode 12, whose difficult conditions directly influenced how unlikely saving him was going to be. Still,Rafael’s awareness that he was at the end of his life led the discourse to everyone Jake and Bode lost, tying the loss of Rafael, for whom Bode could do little except for being with him in his final moments,to Riley’s, for whom Bode also could do little. Bode already took Rafael’s death badly, but Coach Drew’s present inFire Countryseason 3, episode 13 makes everything extremely more difficult for him.

Bode Is Being Tested For A Possible Relapse In Fire Country Season 3

Rafael & Coach Drew All Add To His Problems

After briefly taking Coach Drew’s bait and shoving him back, Bode behaved exceptionally inFire Countryseason 3, episode 13. Not only did Bode connect with Nolan, but he also opened up to Drew and told him that he understood Nolan’s rationale, as he too would have done everything not to feel like he had disappointed Coach Drew and the team when Drew coached him.Bode even gave Drew a second chance when he suggested he tried to calm down Nolan, proving the coach could be supportive when needed, if he understood how much the players looked up to him.

[Coach Drew giving him the pain meds] took Bode by surprise, in a way that he couldn’t really do anything except pocket them, as Drew really didn’t leave him room to object.

Coach Drew gave Bode the pain meds after seeing him bothered by the injury he suffered when he was trying to save Rafael. The move took Bode by surprise, in a way that he couldn’t really do anything except pocket them, as Drew really didn’t leave him room to object. Still,Bode keeping them means he can be tempted to use them, as he first became addicted after his baseball injury prompted him to take them because of the pain.Fire Countryseason 3 is thus effectively hinting at Bode potentially relapsing, especially after the painful calls he worked on.

What Does Bode’s Possible Relapse Mean For Fire Country

Bode Fought So Hard For His Sobriety In & Outside Of Prison

Bode first went to rehab before Riley’s death, but despite his sobriety, Vince implied the accident that killed Riley was brought on by Bode not being sober.Bode protected his sobriety every step of the way since returning to Edgewater, which is why Sleeper’s plan to make Bode’s drug test result positive hurt him greatly at the end ofFire Countryseason 1. Still, nothing he faced inFire Countryseasons 1 and 2 has shaken him as much as his troubles as a firefighter.

Why I’m Worried About Fire Country Season 3’s Death Risks Undoing 1 Original Character’s Hard Progress

Fire Country season 3, episode 13 had challenging developments for various characters, but 1 in particular risks hurting a character’s progress.

Bode’s family’s reaction inFire Countryseason 1’s finale already showed how difficult life would be for everyone if Bode relapsed, even if Sleeper only made everyone think Bode did at the time. Indeed,a potential relapse could make Bode’s path even more difficult, and it would also hurt Sharon and Vince so much, especially after having gone through that already when he was a teen. Bode’s obstinance not to confide in others could point in that direction, butFire Countryseason 3 might surprise audiences and prompt Bode to finally share his pain with his loved ones.
