Companions have always been a popular feature in theFalloutfranchise, as with many other games by Bethesda, so with the option to recruit six out of seven companions inFallout 4’s mod, players can get to know London through locals they meet. You can come to meet five regular companions inFallout: London, three of which can be recruited right away, allowing you to gain a traveling partner quickly.
However, players must eventually pick between two companions they meet later, causing a slight dilemma in their companion-recruiting expedition. Either way, whether through main or side quests, you will be able to meet all of them and gain allies as a lone Wayfarer. Remember, you can only travel with a single companion at your side, so ensure to consider this when recruiting eachNPC inFallout: London.

When progressing the main quest inFallout: London,Archie is officially the first main-quest companionyou can recruit, aside from those you can gather outside the narrative story. Archie is a useful companion for inventory space, but as he is just a child, he doesn’t have good utility in combat. If you are interested in traveling with him, know that you will be doing most of the heavy lifting.
As part of the’Lands of the Seraph’main quest, players aresent to find Archie in Rotherhithe, but to gain access to this quest, you are required to find and unlock the Thameshaven settlement, as mentioned by Sebastian Gaunt of the Vagabonds.

Rotherhithe is found northeast of Thameshaven, but you can get there from the southwest.
When you get there, you will find that the entire area is an irradiated wetland with contaminated water. To make exploring this area more manageable, ensure to be stocked up with RadAway and Rad-X.
You will see plane crash wreckage on some ruined buildings where Archie is inside. To get to the roof of the building, locate the staircase on one of the sides of the walls. This will allowyou to reach the upper pathways and avoid irradiated water.
When you get up to this area, you will face a formidable Softshell Mittenlurk, who you must defeat. Use yourV.A.T.S. inFallout: Londonand aim for the creature’s body, such as the Torso, as it is wearing various armor pieces that protect other regions of its body.
With the area clear, you may nowinteract with the plane by approaching its Bulkhead, which will trigger you to knock. This will automatically update your quest data, prompting you to destroy all the Mttenlurk Hatchlings and take down any that may have already hatched.

Should You Recruit John Smith Or Pendragon?
Choose Between 5th Column Or Camelot Factions
When it comes to John Smith and Pendragon, unfortunately, players can only choose to befriend one of them, as they are tied to two opposingfactions inFallout: London. Therefore, to pick which companion to recruit, you will need to join one of their factions, ideally one that aligns with your values or whose side quests you would enjoy progressing.
You canrecruit John Smith by joining the 5th Column faction, a fascist movement to reshape British wasteland society in the image of their Totalitarian leader, Eve Varney, and rid the Gentry, an aristocratic and classist faction.
Blinded, devoted to their leader, this faction is based on a real group of Nazi Sympathizers from the UK, inspiredby Oswald Mosley’s British Union of Fascists.
With a similar goal of rebuilding the city and bringing the Gentry down,Pendragon belongs to the Camelot faction, whose objective is to bring peace to Britons by making it a republic, going about it very differently from the 5th Columns. However, while a more moral-focused group, unfortunately, they have been forced underground.
Due to the background and authoritative style of the 5th Columnfaction inFallout: London, joining this group may rub most players the wrong way, so Camelot is generally considered the more popular version. OnlyPendragon is actually a robot, and while you can speak to them in dialogue, they cannot speak back, but they still follow all commands and manage to communicate in their own way.
With the same goal in mind of getting rid of the Gentry, ultimately, it depends on which faction players would enjoy interacting with the most, or if you prefer to stay impartial, you may just choose the faction of which character you’d prefer the company of. Either way, all quests in theFallout 4mod are still engaging and are all the more fun with a companion at your side.
