Summary
The latestFallout 76event isn’t going down well assome of the game’s most elusive items have become even more rare, frustrating fans who can’t grind for hours every day.Fasnacht Day has become a staple ofFallout 76as many survivors look forward to the annual celebration that includes a decidedly chaotic (but fun) quest and some sought-after cosmetics that have become marks of prestige in the community. Unfortunately,2024’s Fasnacht Day celebrations have been hampered by the addition of several new masksthat have skewed the drop rate into an untenable position.
PerGamesRadar+, the latest iteration of Fasnacht Day introduced a whole range of new masks for players to collect butgiven that they’re incredibly rare by default, they have a shockingly low drop rate of just 0.238%. While the more common masks have somewhat higher drop rates, players who are only after the new additions would need to complete the event thousands of times to simply stand a fraction of a chance to collect a portion of the most recent masks. The “Glowing” variants are sparking controversy among the community as players accuse Bethesda of greedy practices.

How To Acquire Fasnacht Masks In Fallout 76
Plenty of Patience And Even More Grinding
While it’s no doubt fun that 2024’s Fasnacht Day has brought with it some more unique masks forFallout 76players to collect, the fact that Bethesda hasn’t adjusted the drop rates is the real problem here. Over onReddit, several players have complained that thedrop rate shouldn’t be below 1%given the restrictions on the event. The actual Fasnacht Day quest repeats hourly, so players will, realistically, only be able to complete it a few times a day depending on how dedicated they are to the game.
To stand a very slim chance of acquiring one of these ultra-rare Fasnacht Masks, players will need to participate in the event’s parade which requires the collection of specific items or enemy guts. Once these have been acquired, they can donated to the Master of Ceremonies, the Mr. Handy in charge of spicing up the celebrations. It’s a fairly straightforward mission that doesn’t require much in the way of resources or time but the fact that it only occurs at set intervalsmakes it harder to maximize loot gain.

Whether or not Bethesda does something to amend the Fasnacht Mask drop rates remains to be seen.Following the game’s rise in popularitythanks to theFalloutstreaming series,it could be the case that the developer is more inclined to act swiftly in relation to complaints from the community. Given that the Fasnacht Day event comes to a close on July 9, an update may be in the works but it seems unlikely.
