TheIris of Graceand theIris of Occultationare two twin consumables inElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtreethat can be easy to ignore. Their purpose isn’t very clear in-game. However, these items can be used to collect unique weapons or Spirit Ashes from one of two powerful NPCs.
You are not meant to use the Irises yourself. Instead, you’re supposed to give one of the Irises toSwordhand of Night Jolán and Fire Knight Queelign. The Iris of Grace will give you a new Spirit Ash, while the Iris of Occultation will give you a new weapon. If you’re unsure which one to hand over, ask yourself which would be better for your build.

Where To Find Irises Of Grace
Shadow Keep Iris Of Grace Locations
Both copies of the Iris of Grace can be found in Shadow Keep, the dark castle where players fightMessmer, The Impaler inElden Ring. The Iris of Grace is associated with Spirit Ashes. Both of the new Spirit Ashes unlocked through its use are high tier, with one required to unlock one of the strongest Spirit Ashes in the whole game.
Although you’ll only be able to give one Iris to Jolán or Queelign, you can find two copies of each Iris. Therefore, don’t let your decision regarding one NPC affect which Iris you give the other. If you prefer Spirit Ashes over weapons, focus on the two Irises of Grace rather than the Irises of Occultation.

Storehouse, First Floor
After riding the elevator to the lower level, defeat a nearby fleshy jar monster and collect the Iris of Grace nearby.

After draining the Church District, you can find the Iris of Grace beside the Statue of Marika south of theScadutree Avatar boss battle inElden Ring.
Where To Find Irises Of Occultation
Fort of Reprimand & Shadow Keep Iris Of Occultation Locations
The two copies of the Iris of Occultation are spread out on opposite ends of Scadu Altus. The first is foundin the basement of the Fort of Reprimand, while the other is collected withinShadow Keep’s Church District. It’s easy to stop and grab the Shadow Keep Iris before you make your way to the Tree-Worship Sanctum Site of Grace and grab the second Iris of Grace.
Church District Entrance
After draining the church district, ride the elevator down near the Church District Entrance Site of Grace and defeat the Ulcerated Tree Spirit.
Fort of Reprimand
Drop through a hole in the floor of the main arena and kill the Lesser Omenkiller to get the Iris of Occultation.
What Happens When You Give The Irises To Swordhand of Night Jolán
Swordhand of Night Jolán Spirit Ash & Sword Of Night
Swordhand of Night Jolán appears during Count Ymir’s quest, which begins at theCathedral of Manus Metyr. Ymir sends you to ring the bells at three different Finger Ruins, culminating in boss battles with Metyr, Mother of Fingers, Jolán herself, and then Count Ymir, Mother of Fingers.
As you visit Count Ymir during the quest, speak with Jolán a few times, even though she won’t have much to say. Once you return to the cathedral and defeat Jolán and Ymir,speak to Jolán by the pillar.
Once you speak to Jolán, you may give her either the Iris of Grace or the Iris of Occultation. If you give her the Iris of Occultation, you’ll get theSword of Night, a Dexterity-based Katana. The Iris of Grace, meanwhile, gives you theSwordhand of Night JolanAsh. Most players will want togive Jolán the Iris of Grace, as Swordhand of Night Jolán Spirit Ash is required to unlock one of thebest Spirit Ashes inElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.
What Happens When You Give The Irises To Fire Knight Queelign
Fire Knight Queelign Spirit Ash & Queelign’s Greatsword
Fire Knight Queelign is a knight of Marika who tries to kill you a few times before becoming approachable as an NPC. you may first encounter Queelignas an Invader at Belurat, Tower Settlement. Defeating him there rewards you with the Crusade Talisman.
Later on,he will ambush you at the Church of Crusade, dropping the Prayer Room Key and the Ash of War: Flame Skewer. From there, when you get to Shadow Keep and the Church District,get to the Prayer Roomto find Fire Knight Queelign’s physical body.
Bestowing Fire Knight Queelign with the Iris of Grace gives you theFire Knight Queelign Spirit Ash. This Spirit Ash is aggressive and casts fire spells, making it a strong Spirit Ash. Meanwhile, the Iris of Occultation, antithetical to Fire Knight Queelign’s beliefs, dropsQueelign’s Greatsword.
The Queelign’s Greatsword is considered a Heavy Thrusting Sword, joining the Sword Lance as one of the few of its type in the game. It’s up to you which reward best suits your playstyle inElden Ring: Shadow of the Eritrea.
