Summary
With the several Natlan leaks inGenshin Impact, there have been mentions of a new gameplay mechanic rumored to be called Night Spirit. The supposed mechanic is said to work on three different fronts and, from an initial standpoint, it could be complicated to understand it immediately. In a sense, because a lot of it is based on descriptions rather than actual footage, this could be even harder to understand – in a way that the Pneuma and Ousia mechanics of the Arkhe system from Fontaine initially sounded troubling, and then proven to be extremely easy to comprehend.
Additionally, the Arkhe system has very little impact in combat compared to the importance of elemental reactions, so even if it triggers a few effects in battle, it is mostly used in exploration and puzzle-solving. For now, it is hard to determine how the rumored Night Spirit will be translated into the game and if it will affect combat a bit more than the Arkhe system, for example. However, based on the leaks so far, it is possible to speculate that the upcoming mechanic will be a lot more present during gameplay rotations forNatlan characters inGenshin Impact.

I’m Thrilled One Of Genshin Impact 5.0’s Biggest Natlan Leaks Isn’t True
One of the most significant leaks about Genshin Impact 5.0’s Natlan region has allegedly been debunked, and it comes as great news for us, players.
Leaks Say Night Spirit Has Three Instances In Genshin Impact
Night Spirit Eruption, Night Spirit Empowerment, & Night Spirit Transmission Will Dictate Various Gameplay Mechanics In Natlan
While the Night Spirit mechanic has been mentioned across several leaks, including leaked gameplay kits, it has only been described thoroughly once. According to information provided by the leaker known as Foul, which was shared in a post tagged as “Reliable” onReddit,Night Spirit will be divided into three instances: Night Spirit Eruption, Night Spirit Empowerment, and Night Spirit Transmission. Each of these will supposedly be triggered in a different way and offer different gameplay effects, a lot of which depends on the Natlan characters' gameplay kit.
The table below lists all three Night Spirit effects inGenshin Impactand their respective explanations, according to Foul:

Explanation
When a Natlan character is in the active team and when they deal elemental damage to enemies, the effect will be triggered. The more Natlan characters in the team, the shorter the interval for each Night Soul Eruption to occur. Night Soul Eruption can trigger effects on Relics and character Talents.
A buff for Natlan characters. While in the state, their movement and combat abilities are enhanced. Using Elemental Skills helps enter Night Soul Empowerment, which is dictated by the Night Soul Value, a depletable gauge.

In areas where the Combustion mechanic in Natlan is present, switching to a Natlan character while in motion will trigger the effect. When the character is swapped in, special movement actions are performed based on their abilities.
Kachina’s Leaked Gameplay Kit In Genshin Impact Offers Better Insight Into Rumored Night Spirit Mechanics
The Character’s Alleged Kit Mentions Night Spirit Multiple Times
While the explanation in Foul’s leak does provide some insight into what players can expect, the rumored Night Spirit mechanics are better understood when seen within a character’s gameplay kit. Luckily, Kachina’s alleged gameplay kit was also leaked by Foul and then shared onReddit. As seen in the leak, when Kachina uses her Elemental Skill, she summons her Sky Drill. By holding the Skill button, she automatically rides the Sky Drill. Additionally,Kachina gains 60 Night Spirit points and enters Night Spirit EmpowermentinGenshin Impact– here, it is referred to as the Night Spirit Enhancement state.
While Kachina is the Night Spirit Empowerment state, her Sky Drill will deal Geo DMG based on the Night Spirit Value – possibly like how Bond of Life value dictates how much certain characters deal damage. The leak also mentions thatwhen Night Spirit Eruption is triggered, Kachina’s Geo DMG is increased for 12 seconds. Additionally, when Night Spirit is exhausted (possibly the gauge for the Empowerment), Kachina consumes fuel state to maintain the Empowerment state. The transfer of Night Spirit occurs every 10 seconds, giving Kachina 30 Night Spirit points inGenshin Impact.

Genshin Impact 5.0 Leaks Suggest Devastating Traveler Update (But There’s A Silver Lining)
The new Traveler form may be subject to oddities in Genshin Impact 5.0, according to some fresh leaks about Natlan’s Statue of the Seven.
The Night Spirit mechanic is also mentioned in Kachina’s leaked Constellations. According to Foul, with her C2, Kachina will recover 20 Night Spirit points when she uses her Elemental Burst and, if there is no Sky Drill on the field, she will enter the Night Spirit Empowerment state and create a drill. This gives players a better understanding of how these Night Spirit mechanics may work. From what it seems, each character will have their own type of approach to how they trigger Night Spirit Eruption and Night Spirit Empowerment and the effects that come with them.

The Night Spirit Transmission mechanic is not mentioned in Kachina’s leaked gameplay kit.
Kachina gains a Geo DMG buff while in the Night Spirit Empowerment state, but other characters could, for instance, benefit from an increased healing output value when in the same state. By triggering Night Spirit Eruption, other types of effects, possibly directly related to each character from Natlan, could also be activated. From what it seems based on the descriptions provided in the leaks, the Night Spirit mechanic will be more encompassing in combat than the Arkhe systemand will actually dictate the gameplay rotations for certain Natlan characters inGenshin Impact.
Genshin Impact Petition To Improve Representation Reaches 70K Signatures
Genshin Impact and the developer HoYoverse are being heavily criticized by the community following the reveal of the upcoming characters from Natlan.
For now, these leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, as they are still subject to change, and the final nomenclature of the mechanics in English may be different, too. Nevertheless, it does seem like Natlan-exclusive mechanics are arriving with the characters from the region and they will not necessarily make them stronger than the current characters, but quite different. Of course, aside from their leaked gameplay value, the characters arriving with therelease of Natlan inGenshin Impactare being heavily criticized by the community due to the lack of representation.
