However, before players can work on any friendship quests, they must formally welcome Mulan and Mushu to the valley by helping them out in their realm.
To unlock Mulan, players need to speak with Merlin in Dreamlight Castle, paying 15,000 Dreamlight to open the realm door.Following that, Mulan and Mushu will have a series of quests that include some Dragon Army Training and Clearing The Road after a small landslide in the camp, after which, you can build their home in the valley and begin their friendship quests.

The Shadow Play quest is one of Mulan’s friendship quests, but unfortunately, it isn’t something you’re able to access right away. Before you gain access to this quest, you’ll need to have met a couple of prerequisites.Firstly, players must have completed the quest that brings Minnie to the valley. Given that this is a very early quest in the game, odds are that it has already been completed, but if not, Minnie must be available as she is part of the quest.
Secondly, players will need to have reachedLevel 4 friendship with Mulan, which means you must have unlocked and completed the first friendship quest as well.

After the above conditions have been met, Mulan will share with you that she would like to bring something special to Dreamlight Valley and that is Shadow Play. She’ll explain that she can handle the writing, but needs your help with gathering some materials to make it all come together.
Specifically, she needs 2x Tinkering Parts, 5x Rope, 6x Hardwood, and 12x Softwood. For Rope, try checking outKristoff’s Stall in Disney Dreamlight Valleyfor Fiber so you can craft it, otherwise, you’ll need to craft the fiber first using seaweed.
Kristoff’s Stall is one of the most versatile shops in the game, so it is highly recommended you unlock it if you haven’t already.In addition to occasionally offering Fiber, as needed for this quest, he also sells base materials like Wood or finished materials like Glass, allowing you to stock up on frequently needed supplies without having to put in the work yourself.
For the Tinkering Parts, you can craft them using Iron Ingot.As for the Hardwood and Softwood, you’ll need to collect them in the various regions of the valley. Once you’ve collected all the materials, speak withMinnie inDisney Dreamlight Valley. Minnie will agree to make the puppets for the Shadow Theater but needs a little time, so go ahead and take the materials to Mulan.At this point, she’ll inform you that Mushu needs some help with the lighting, so find and speak with him.
The lantern light isn’t staying lit, which will leave you with one option: speak to Merlin and ask him to help solve the problem. Merlin will suggest that you craft the Draconic Garnet to help with the lighting situation.To do this,you will need 4x Dream Shards, 1x Shiny Garnet, and 12x Coal. Once you’ve crafted the Empty Draconic Garnet, bring it to Mushu, and he will essentially activate it before returning it as the Draconic Garnet. With that in hand, bring it to Mulan and she will finish the Shadow Theater.

Daisy Duck has arrived in Disney Dreamlight Valley and with her, she brings along her Fashion Boutique where players can show off their creativity.
After she hands it over, she will ask that you wait until nightfall to place it somewhere in the valley. However, this is entirely optional, and you are free to place the theater right away if you choose to.Once you’ve placed it, you will be pulled into a group photo with it, before being able to speak with Mulan again.
She will then thank you for helping her and gift you the Shadow Theater permanently, in case you would like to officially make it part ofDisney Dreamlight Valley, and that will officially complete The Shadow Play quest.
