Warning! This post contains spoilers for Cobra Kai season 6, part 1.
Summary
Cobra Kaiseason 6, part 1, destroys Kenny’s shot at redemption, but that may not be as bad as it seems. FromCobra Kaiseason 6’s opening episodes, Robby tries to warm up to Kenny after their season 5 fallout, hoping he will forgive him and agree to join the Miyagi Do dojo. However, Kenny remains resentful and ignores Robby whenever he approaches him. As a result, the back and forth between the two characters leads to a showdown with Tory, Sam, Miguel, and Robby on one side and Kenny and his brother Shawn on the other.
During the fight, Shawn realizes Kenny could benefit from Miyagi Do’s fighting style and encourages him to give the dojo a shot. This marks the inception of Kenny’sCobra Kai redemption arc. With time, Kenny even starts warming up to Anthony LaRusso and seems apologetic when he accidentally punches him too hard duringCobra Kaiseason 6, part 1’s Sekai Taikaiselections. Sadly, his redemption arc does not seem to last too long.

All Sekai Taikai Teams Competing In Cobra Kai Season 6
Cobra Kai season 6 part 1’s ending finally unveiled the various karate teams that will compete at the international Sekai Taikai tournament.
Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 1 Destroyed Kenny’s Shot At Redemption In The Worst Possible Way
As Kenny’sCobra Kaijourney in the previous seasons confirmed, he progressed by leaps and bounds and showed the potential to go toe-to-toe with some of the best young fighters on the show. Owing to this, he was easily among the top contenders for the Sekai Taikai, and it seemed likely that he would get selected. However, during the final round of the Sekai Taikai selections,Cobra Kaiseason 6 did Kenny dirtyby portraying how Devon spiked his water with laxatives right before their race.
To make things worse, Kenny believes that Anthony LaRusso put laxatives in his drink, which has turned him resentful towards Daniel LaRusso as well.

Instead of completing the competition, Kenny rushed to the closest restroom but could not make it to one on time. Kenny endured a lot of bullying inCobra Kai’s early seasons, which prompted him to look up to toxic leaders like Kreese and Silver. Despite starting his redemptive arc in the beginning,Cobra Kaiseason 6 dragged him back into the abyssby walking through the embarrassing way in which he could lose his Sekai Taikai spot. To make things worse, Kenny believes that Anthony LaRusso put laxatives in his drink, which has turned him resentful towards Daniel LaRusso as well.
Kenny’s Miyagi Do Exit Sets Up His Cobra Kai Return
Kenny Would Want Revenge After Being Rejected From Miyagi Do
The Cobra Kai dojo’s philosophies, especially with John Kreese at its helm, may foster a culture of aggression and ruthlessness among its students. However, the dojo has always empowered Kenny and helped him rise in the ranks as a young karate master. Owing to this, after his embarrassing Miyagi Do departure, it would not be surprising if he eventually returns to Cobra Kai in the show’s season 6’s future installments to find vengeance and reclaim his lost sense of purpose. Although the teams have already flown to Spain for the tournament, John Kreese might still accept him.
As seen inCobra Kaiseason 6, part 1’s endingmoments, John Kreese and Sensei Kim’s Cobra Kai team only has four fighters. Since, according to Sekai Taikai’s rules, a team can have a maximum of six fighters in its roster, Kenny could take the fourth spot in the Cobra Kai team. This would pave the way for him to seek revenge. Although Kenny is not a part of the Miyagi Do team, Kenny can still channel his anger toward Daniel LaRusso and his family by overpowering his dojo’s fighters in the tournament.

Kenny’s Cobra Kai Return Makes Room For An Exciting Rematch
Hawk & Kenny Could Fight Again After Their Season 5 Showdown
One of the memorablefights inCobra Kaiseason 5is between Kenny and Hawk during the Sekai Taikai trials. What makes the fight fascinating is that, despite being a complete underdog, Kenny overpowers the All-Valley champion Hawk by using Terry Silver’s “silver bullet” technique. The move might be illegal in a fully sanctioned brawl, but the showdown highlights Kenny’s potential and incredible progress as a fighter. However, given how Kenny resorts to a somewhat controversial method to land the win,it is hard not to be curious about how a fair fight between the two characters would end.
If Kenny, too, takes on a spot in John Kreese’s Cobra Kai team, Hawk and Kenny could have a fair and square fight inCobra Kaiseason 6.

After losing to Demetri in the final round of the Sekai Taikai selections, Hawk initially did not make it to Miyagi Do’s final team for the tournament. However, after Tory’s departure, he landed a spot as her replacement. If Kenny, too, takes on a spot in John Kreese’s Cobra Kai team, Hawk and Kenny could have a fair and square fight inCobra Kaiseason 6. This rematch would finally determine who among them is the better fighter. Since Hawk has also previously been through all the bullying Kenny has endured in high school, he could even be a good mentor for him after the Sekai Taikai.

Cobra Kai Season 6 Can Now Make Kenny’s Redemption Even Better
Kenny Could Eventually Learn He Was Wrong About Anthony LaRusso
If Kenny returns as a Cobra Kai fighter in the show’s season 6’s future installments, it seems likely that he will eventually learn the truth about how Devon put laxatives in his water. This would help him realize that even though Anthony LaRusso was initially mean to him, he had nothing to do with his embarrassing loss during the Sekai Taikai selections. As a result, Kenny would understand that he had beenso consumed by his hate for Anthony LaRusso that he allowed his judgment to be cloudedand directed his anger towards the wrong person.

He would also likely be able to see how John Kreese’s Cobra Kai philosophies weaponized his anger and made him fight out of a shallow desire for revenge rather than self-improvement. This realization would ultimately prompt him to reevaluate everything he previously assumed about Anthony LaRusso and his family and walk down the path of redemption again. With this, towards theend ofCobra Kaiseason 6, he and Anthony could be friends again, leaving behind their bad blood and ending their long-running toxic rivalry for good.
