Catwomanhas been a staple in DC Comics for decades, acting as both a cunning villain and a sometimes-hero fighting at Batman’s side. Following her death in theGotham War, and subsequent return, she’s been dealing with something a bit more on the supernatural side. She is seemingly immortal, butthe fragments of the meteor that are keeping her alive will eventually kill her permanently.

InCatwoman#66– written by Tini Howard, with art by Carmine Di Giandomenico – the brutal after effects of the Gotham War continue to settle in for Selina Kyle. The meteor that grants Vandal Savage his immortality both killed and resurrected her, and they’ve allowed her to skirt death several times since. Now, she is beginning to experience debilitating headaches and knows real death is on the horizon.

The meteor may have granted Catwoman “nine lives”, but it’s becoming clear that it won’t offer her a peaceful end.Unlike her Batman Returns counterpart, she can’t hang onto her second chance.

Selina Kyle makes a living off dancing close to death. She’s one of the world’s greatest cat burglars, leaving some of the world’s greatest heroes and villains scrambling to catch up. Her luck ran outin the Gotham War storyline. Though Jason Todd crashed the Batwing into the meteor, mitigating a large amount of damage, it wasn’t enough to save Catwoman. She died at the crash site, brief though that death was, and it left her changed. Now, Scandal Savage has revealed that she hears a piece of that meteor embedded inside Selina that must be removed.

Since her resurrection, Selina has been plagued with strange visions and dreams, which eventually segued into headaches so intense she lamented the possibility of dying of an aneurysm in the middle of a mission. The meteor may havegranted her “nine lives”, but it’s becoming clear that it won’t offer her a peaceful end.UnlikeherBatman Returns counterpart, she can’t hang onto her second chance; it is currently unclear how the meteor fragment may be removed from her brain, or what damage it may cause on its way out,but it’s the only shot Catwoman has at staying alive.

Selina Is Watching Her Odds Of Survival Diminish

If Selina Kyle is anything, she’s a fighter. She’s self-taught, self-sufficient, and never fully relies on anyone but herself. Still, there are people in the world she cares about and bridges that need mended – especially in Gotham. She’s never been one to simply accept her fate. Whether Scandal has an idea of how to remove the fragment, or Selina has to search for answers herself,it’s unlikely that this is the true end of her story.Catwoman’snine lives are up, as the meteor’s effects take hold, and she’ll need to act fast to survive the thing that saved her.
