Call of Duty: Black Ops 6is listening to the community by dropping a nerf hammer on what is widely considered to be the game’s most overpowered perk. It didn’t take long for players to figure out thatthe best three-perk bonus is undoubtedly Recon which grants respawning users the ability to briefly see enemies through walls, giving thema major advantage over opponents. While it could be argued that it’s only really helpful for those who continuously lose fire fights, it still feels like an unfair boost.
Responding to FaZe Clan content creator Swagg on X (formerly Twitter),Black Ops 6’s Associate DirectorMatt Scronceconfirmed thatan “incoming” patch will nerf the Recon perk.

The developer has yet to provide any details on how the ability will be tweaked but given the severity of the backlash, one has to imagine that the adjustment will be drastic. More information will probably be shared in the coming days; A release date has yet to be revealed but"incoming" suggests it will be sooner rather than later.
Recon Quickly Proved To Be A Problem
It’s Like Offical Wallhacks
Briefly seeing enemies through walls may not sound like too much of a benefit but in the context ofCall of Duty,it can be a deciding factor in who wins a fight. The majority ofBlack Ops 6’s maps are designed for quick engagements, pushing players into small avenues that allow for gameplay that’s fast and snappy; There’sno better example of this than the classic Nuketownorthe more recent Stakeout. Recon enables players to pull off some devastating killstreaks as it effectively nullifies opponents' cover.
To make matters worse, Recon actually has some added bonuses that make it even more powerful. When it’s equipped, players gain an indicator on their HUD when an enemy is just outside their vision, making it easier to avoid ambushes and turn the tables; Additionally, it also deactivates the user’s death skulls when they eliminate a foe so they’re harder to track on the mini-map. All-in-all, it’s an incredibly lethal combo that feels unfair to play against, especialkly when it’s in the hands of someone who knows how to use it.

What is the best Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 map?
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is finally here, and with it come several new multiplayer maps. I enjoy playing on the majority of the maps, although to be honest, I groan every time that I get stuck in Babylon. It is far too small, making it extremely frustrating to play in any mode. My top favorites are easily Rewind, Skyline, and Derelict because they offer a lot of hiding spots and room to get away if you are overwhelmed by opponents. If you like to snipe, run and gun, or switch it up - these maps all have something for you. That said, my all-time favorite Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 map is Skyline. It reminds me a lot of Cold War’s Raid map, which is my favorite from that game.
Recon’s Nerf Is Great News
The Sooner The Better
As someone who has both used the three-perk Recon bonus and been a victim of it, I’m glad Treyarch is dealing with it.Call of Duty: Black Ops 6is easily one ofthe best games in the seriesbutit’s incredibly frustrating to fall prey to a build that feels so powerful with zero downsides. I look foward to seeing how the developers make it on par with the other bonus perks.
