What if search engine rankings weren’t designed around what an algorithm says and instead had your favorite websites in mind? That’s exactly what Brave Search is trying after it added a voting system that allows you to rank websites upward or downward, depending on how well it satisfies your needs.

Brave Search Adds a Rerank System to Help You Sculpt Your Results

The officialBrave blogannounced its new “Rerank” system. It allows you to give a thumbs-up (which Brave calls “raise”) or thumbs-down (“discard”) to search results, which tells Brave which sources you like or dislike. The search engine will tailor your future search results by boosting the websites you raised and hiding those you discarded.

It’s worth noting that your actions do not influence other people using Brave Search whenever you raise or discard a website. Your voting only changes what you see when you use Brave Search, and in turn, other people’s voting doesn’t influence what you see. As such, you’re free to be as kind or critical as possible when sculpting your search results.

Brave’s Rerank is out right now, so if you want to try it yourself, head over to Brave Search and look for something. On the results page, click the up-down arrow button at the top right. You’ll see all the websites Brave used to craft your results page; give the ones you like a thumbs-up and thumbs-down anything you don’t want to see. The next time you search using Brave, it’ll consider these votes and adjust your results accordingly.
