How The Mandalorian Starter Deck Works In Star Wars Unlimited
Upgrades & Exhaustion
This new pre-built starter deck is made forThe Mandalorian based on his appearance in theDisney+series, and, in the same set, he ispitted against Moff Gideon. InFFG’s Preview Video, the decksperform well against each other once before not doing so hot the next time. Both of them have opposite abilities, with one wanting small units that attack for more andone wanting to exhaust those same units.
The Mandalorian deck isCunning, Vigilance, and Heroismand wants to control the board until some heavier-hitting units can come into play. Constructed decks of this format can have up to three copies of each card, and his deck focuses on theMandalorian trait synergy combined with exhausting opponents, triggering bounties, and moving upgrades as needed.

Better Upgrades
Upgrading Precon deckscan be a challenge, but there are a lot of options for this particular deck. The idea for upgrading this deck is to improve on what the deck already wants to do, which is tomake enemy units struggle to ready and flesh out the Mandalorian synergythat already exists. There are some fairly good cards that allow you to do so from both current sets in existence. Many of theStarter-only cardsalready in his arsenal give you some of this synergy already.
InStar Wars Unlimited, you can switch out your second Aspect at any time for another. For the purposes of upgrading a pre-existing deck, this guide will stick to Vigilance/Cunning, but it is worth looking at other cards to see if another aspect could replace Vigilance for you.

Unfortunately, there ismore upgrade removal with this set, so you do not want to put all your upgrades on one unit. This means you have to be able to both play units and upgrades, and it means you want to havestable board control as much as possible. Luckily, Cunning and Vigilance have a lot of potential where that is concerned and the suggestions for upgrading should capitalize on that.
As you may have three copies of cards, one quick suggestion is toflesh out the rarer cards in the Starter Set to have a full playset. Also, while there are 10 suggestions, you will not be able to include all of them at three copies each without taking the full deck apart. Find what suggestions work best for you.

Upgrade
This is good for The Mandalorian mostly because playing it exhausts an opponent’s unit and readies one of your resources, giving you two benefits for one.
It is out of aspect if played from hand, but not if you play it out of your resource pile. While it costs the same, you can effectively ambush an opponent with an extra +2 attack and exhaust one of their units at the same time.
Ground Unit
While it is not a Mandalorian, this unit gets to make your upgrades cheaper and easier to play. This means you can still play other cards when you might not have before. If you want to utilize more Force synergy cards with Grogu, this card is a great option to include.
It is not the strongest upgrade you may include in this deck, but it does give you a turn to swing hard with a unit that your opponent will have to work harder to remove that turn. Some of the Mandalorian units can stack a lot of Shields and Experience, making the extra damage more valuable.
One of the best upgrades in Set 2,The Darksabergives you a massive damage boost and with the cards in the deck, you’re able to fish it out of your deck even if you only have one copy.
Event
This can force your opponent to replay some heavy hitters and reset their board. It also gets rid of any upgrades on their units, allowing you to have sole control of that part of the board.
This card is more relevant if you lean into the Force aspect, but being able to heal one of your upgraded units and send that damage to the other side of the table is a good thing and you will want to keep Grogu out as long as possible anyway.
This unit is not a Mandalorian but it is a beast. While you may not have any other AMBUSH cards, this one card can make a strong difference on the turn it comes out. This is a good way to control the board state and keep enemy units off the table.
Buffing the Mandalorian with himself is the best way to play it, and his ability to automatically heal and upgrade a unit is incredible. He won’t stick around long with Sentinel, but he will eat a few attacks.
Space Unit
This is a great space unit that costs very little and can help keep space under control as much as the ground units are.
Cards To Cut From The Mandalorian Starter Deck In SWU
Create Tempo
Keeping in mind that there are a fair number of cards to add and subtract, there are some suggestions for cuts that can be made. Some of these can besideboarded for certain match-ups, but some of them will work better in other decks. For this upgrade, the goal was to minimize the number of bounties and switch them out for the suggested upgrades above to focus on keeping your units better and keeping your opponent’s units exhausted.
And those are our suggestions for improving yourStar Wars UnlimitedMandalorian Starter Deck.
