Released in 2002, LucasArts' cult-classic third-person action-adventure game served as a tie-in forStar Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clonesby providingJango Fett’s backstory. Whileit may no longer be canon, it’s good to see Aspyr bringing some of the more obscureStar Warsgames to modern platforms, especially when it goes above and beyond.
Writing on the officialPlayStation blog,Aspyr confirmed the addition of a Boba Fett skin to its remastered version ofStar Wars: Bounty Hunter, making good on a tease that’s bothered fans for over 20 years. In the original version of the game, it was possible to discover a low-resolution texture that featured Aurebesh text reading “Cash in all bounties to play as Boba.” Players worked for years to figure out how to earn the new skin but it turns out that while the tease made it into the final game, Boba Fett didn’t make the cut.

Aspyr confirmed that those who complete the game’s campaign will unlock the Boba Fett skin, allowing them to play through the entire story dressed likethe son of the galaxy’s most feared bounty hunter. While it was previously believed thatStar Wars: Bounty Hunterplayers needed to complete the game 100% to unlock the skin, that limitation has seemingly been ditched for the remaster. It’s undoubtedly a fun inclusion and one that will make veterans very pleased given the amount of time spent trying to unlock Boba Fett in the game’s first version.
Launching on August 1,Aspyr’s remasteredStar Wars: Bounty Hunterwill feature a plethora of upgrades for the original 2002 title. This version of the game features improved textures and environments, an overhauled lighting system with new visual effects to see more color and illumination from every possible source, and the added benefit of a flashlight to light up areas that were initially too dark. PlayStation 5 players also have the added benefit of some fun DualSense features, including voice comms coming through the speaker and the controller’s light reflecting Jango’s health.

Those who want to explore Jango Fett’s origin story can pick upStar Wars: Bounty Hunteron Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Despite Aspyr’s reputation for resurrecting beloved classic games with a fresh coat of paint,the studio’s previousStar Warsrelease left many fans disappointed. One can only hope thatBounty Hunterdoesn’t suffer the same kind of disastrous launch experienced byStar Wars: Battlefront - Classic Collection.
