The ranged weapons you can find are few but are far stronger than many of the ranged options present in the base game. Furthermore, almost all of them can be imbued withAshes of War inElden Ringto make them even stronger.

TheSpread Crossbowis the simplest ranged weapon you can get inShadow Of The Erdtree, with a light attack starting stat compared to other long-distance tools. You can get this weapon from a dead body in a small Messmer camp located near the Ellac Greatbridge. The lower levels of the bridge host enemies you’ll have to take down before you can reach the weapon within the camp set up by the soldiers.
While you can’t infuse any Ashes of War into this weapon, you canupgrade it withSmithing StonesinElden Ringup to +25 for extra attack power. This weapon is two crossbows welded into one, firing multiple bolts at the same time across a wide spread as the tool’s name suggests. This can help you deal with large crowds of smaller enemies, but the Spread Crossbow may struggle against bulkier opponents.

The Unique Skill of this weapon is the standardKickattack that sometimes comes standard for many ranged weapons. This simple high kick can break the guard of smaller enemies trying to block with shields.

One of the new Light Bows you can get in the DLC is theBone Bow, whose slight base physical damage may seem weak at first. However, this weapon has a hidden ability calledRancor Shotwherearrows are imbued with spiritsto hit track enemies in homing arcs. This prevents normally agile targets from escaping damage from the rapid fire of projectiles you can use with this bow simply by holding the light attack button.
As you can see in the above video by YouTube creatorGamer Guru, you’ll be able to find the Bone Bow inside Belurat Tower Settlement to the northwest of the Land of Shadow. From the Small Private Altar Site of Grace, travel up the structure and enter the tower with the broken spiral stairs guarded by two large Spider-Scorpion enemies. The Bow is on the large pile of books right past where one enemy drops from the ceiling.

The new Throwing Blades weapon type inShadow Of The Erdtreeis only represented through one weapon, theSmithscript Dagger. This weapon scales with Dexterity, Strength, Intelligence, and Faith, making it a versatile tool for many character builds. The Smithing Stones you can use can scale this dagger in any direction, from an S-scaling Keen weapon in Dexterity to a B-scaling Fire Strength weapon if you choose.
The Smithscript Dagger is a weapon that can be made better with Ashes of War you collect from various Remembrances and other sources from along your journey to become Elden Lord.

Getting to this weapon is no easy task, as you have to pass one of theFurnace Golems inElden Ringlingering around the Ruined Forge Lava Intake area. Head down deep into this dungeon and explore until you come across an item on a ledge guarded by a large stone enemy. Unlike normal throwing daggers, this Throwing Bladedoes not consume any ammobut respawns in your hand as you throw it at enemies.
ThePiercing Throwability is unique to Throwing Blades like this dagger, letting you throw the weapon further than normal from a powerful spin. This attack can pierce through multiple opponents, allowing you to deal damage to many targets in a single throw. Although this weapon may be tricky to use at first, its speed and range make it a great addition toElden Ringamong the available tools in your character’s arsenal.

Anyone who has fought theBlackgaol Knight inShadow Of The Erdtreemay recognize theRepeating Crossbow, a deadly contraption meant to fire many bolts in a rapid barrage. You can find this weapon to the south of the Moorth Highway Site of Grace, along the road near the Ghostflame Dragon optional boss in the area. This crossbow scales with Strength alone and can only be upgraded through Somber Smithing Stones.
As you can see in the above video by YouTube creatorIts Shatter, the Repeating Crossbow’s main strength comes from the machine gun fire mode it can do from its Unique Skill. Performing this does not cost any FP, but consumes a lot of ammo to deliver a volley of projectiles against your target quickly. This can be great for dealing damage to a single enemy or boss, tearing through their health bar in one sequence.

The named weapons inElden Ringare usually special in some way, withAnsbach’s Longbowbeing no exception to this rule. This bow is something you can get fromSir Ansbach inShadow Of The Erdtree, either by killing the NPC or helping them repel an enemy Invader in the Shadow Keep during their questline. The weapon is made of two bow bodies, making it a longbow and light bow built into one deadly tool.
There’s One Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree Character I Find Intensely Relatable
A character in Elden Ring’s DLC bears a piece of us all. Here’s how his journey inspired my own, and how he unofficially became part of the community.
The Unique Skill for this weapon is theFan Shot, which sees you hold the bow horizontally to fire eight arrows at once. This is extremely strong against groups of all types of enemies as you find yourself overwhelmed by foes while you explore the Land of Shadow. The base damage of Ansbach’s Longbow is decent enough to pick off targets from afar, but having a close-range option through makes up for the main weakness of normal bows.

Those looking for a ranged weapon to deal the most damage should look no further thanRabbath’s Cannon, which deals massive physical and magic damage. Ballista weapons fire single shots that explode into large AoE bursts to injure multiple targets. Although this weapon takes a long time in between shots to fire, the glintstone cannonballs released from this Cannon are remarkably powerful and worth the wait.
As you can see in the above video by YouTube creatorShark R, you can get Rabbath’s Cannon at Rabbath’s Rise after you break the seal preventing you from traveling up the Spirit Spring in the area.
Upgrading this weapon with Somber Smithing Stones makes up for the lack of Ashes of War you can’t infuse into the tool. The Cannon can annihilate groups of enemies for crowd control or deal incredible DPS to bosses when you find your window to fire off a shot. While tricky to use in frantic battles, this ranged weapon remains among the best inShadow Of The Erdtreefrom its sheer damage output alone.

Igon’s Greatbowis the best ranged weapon inShadow Of The Erdtree, but you’re able to only get the item if you either defeat Igon in the Gravesite Plain or complete his questline by summoning him to defeatBayle The Dread inElden Ring. Like every Greatbow, you can do huge damage with this item, but the true strength comes from the Unique Skill.Igon’s Drake Huntallows you to take the damage even further to rival some melee weapons.
you may find Igon’s Greatbow after his questline where you first met him at the Foot of the Jagged Peak Site of Grace, just southeast of the resting area.
The Unique Skill is simply a stronger version of Through And Through, but you can upgrade this Greatbow alongside this ability through Ashes of War. Using Igon’s Harpoons as ammo with all of these traits combined puts this ranged weapon leagues above the others available inShadow Of The Erdtree. Those with Strength-centered character builds will thrive using this weapon over long distances.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree - How To Get Igon’s Harpoon & Igon’s Greatbow
Igon’s Harpoon and Igon’s Greatbow are obtained from an extremely challenging boss, Igon, in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.
Since you’re able to fully upgrade this item to +25, you will only increase the potency of the Greatbow with the Drake Hunt skill and whatever Ash of War you imbue. Using the best ranged weapons like Igon’s Greatbow can give you better options instead of always fightingShadow Of The Erdtree’s powerful enemies up close inElden Ring.
