Summary
Anya takes players on many exciting adventures inSpy x Anya: Operation Memories, which incorporates 17 minigames alongside the overarching story of the game. While the main narrative involves the Forger family, from thepopularSpy x Familyseries, going on various outings for Anya to fulfill a school photo project, the minigames take place separately. Even so, each minigame has a way to tie into the general theme of the game as activities that Anya and her family are doing in their day-to-day lives.
For the most part, each of the 17 minigames is vastly different from one another, with the exception being two of the Tycoon card games, which can either take place at school or home in separate games. 10 of the games can be played as local multiplayer mode versions, but must be selected from the title screen rather than within the campaign game in order for a second player to join. Additionally,each minigame is designed with a series of nine challenges that players can work towards completingfor earning raffle tickets to get cosmetics in the game.

Anyone who has played the traditional schoolyard game of Red Light, Green Light may recognize some familiar themesinSpy x Anya: Operation Memories' Anya At School minigame. The premise here is that Anya is at school and “trying her bestest” to do everything correctly for Professor Henderson. To do so, whenever Henderson is writing on the board, Anya must quickly take notes. As soon as he turns around to face the students, players must press a different button to raise Anya’s hand before any of the other kids.
Occasionally, Professor Henderson will tell the students to listen and players must refrain from touching any buttons until he is done and turns back to the board.The speed of the levels increases throughout the game, requiring fast responses from players. This game can be played in two player mode.

Training With Yor is a minigame thatblends a bit of rhythm game and memory game together, somewhat like a version ofSimon Says. Players watch as Yor demonstrates a short pattern of kicks and punches in beat. Then, playing as Anya, players must copy what Yor did by hitting the corresponding buttons in the same rhythm as Yor did, without seeing prompts on what to do.
The memory aspect, mixed with the speed that ramps up as the game progresses, can make it difficult but also quite engaging and fun. Additionally, seeing the adorable Anya learning how to fight alongside her assassin mama is an adorable feature.

8The Thorn Princess’s Workday

Early on, one of the first minigames that players will unlock is the chance to see what a typical workday looks like for Yor. Introduced as a scenario where Anya read Yor’s mind as she reflects on her day,players then take on the role of Yor as she takes out several baddies. The gameplay is fairly simple, with traditional hack and slash as Yor slices and kicks her way through massive mobs, occasionally facing off with a big boss.
As Yor fights, a Special Move gauge fills up, and once it is activated, Yor takes on a red glow and is able to use a much more powerful attack. There are also dodge abilities and combo points for quickly eliminating the thugs. Due to the solo nature of Yor’s work,The Thorn Princess’s Workday is single-player only.

Its name feels a bit misleading, as the thugs are in pursuit of Bond, but it is fun nonetheless.
Following the standard gameplay of endless runners, Bond and Anya must collect the peanuts while avoiding obstacles like holes and explosive crates, while the enemies chase them down. Arrows will show where the thugs will be running to help players move out of the way, although these bad guys can still throw bombs in Bond’s path.

Its colorful design and cheerful sounds and music make this such a fun version of bowling that one wishes to go to this bowling alley in real life. Otherwise, it is a fairly straightforward bowling video game, with players lining up their shots, adding some curve to the throw if they wish, and hitting the button at just the right time on the power gauge to throw the bowling ball.
Peanut Bowling is one of the multiplayer options, as it is already setup perfectly for more than one player, with the three characters taking turns bowling. Playing in single-player, it can be a bit tiresome watching the two computer-controlled players take their turns, butthere are skip and fast-forward options that help speed things up.

In the minigame, Yuri’s Cuisine, Anya and Yuri are served up some snacks made by Yor and Loid. Yuri wants to eat all of Yor’s cooking, and none of Loid’s.Players control Yuri and quickly gobble up all the disgusting food served, while passing the beautiful cookies on to Anya. The tight time limit makes this a game of speed, as players must hit the correct buttons for passing plates, eating, taking lids off, and stacking plates.

Similar to the above game where players see what Yor’s workday is like,in Loid’s Escape, players control Loid through one of his infiltration spy missions. Loid is tasked with sneaking through a museum and collecting pieces of artwork that are being used as ciphers. Many guards are also in the vicinity, which players must look out for, while also keeping an eye on the time limit.
Loid must quickly get each of the pieces of art that are highlighted yellow, and can crouch and stealth his way around the guards. If players get caught, Loid can take out the enemy, but doing so takes a lot of precious time.

Tag With P2 isn’t even trying to hide the fact that this is aPac-Manclone, with a nod to the classic game even incorporated in the soundtrack of the minigame. Set in a 3D environment, Anya is in constant-run mode while she goes through a maze to collect peanuts and avoid being caught by enemies. Some special power-ups hidden in the level can make it so she can turn on the enemies and send them back to the start, but only last for a short time.
Despite being a very familiar clone,this minigame is expertly done with just the right balance of enemies, speed, and peanuts in the maze. The music and bright colorful graphics add to the overall experience, making it a game worthy of replaying.

Each vegetable has a blue line which, if lined up with the blue line on the screen where Yor’s knife slices, will give extra points, although Yor can cut the veggie anywhere.
To make things more difficult,sometimes a box of dog food which must not be cut falls, and other vegetables are very small and require precision to time cutting them correctly. Yor does have a special Focus Mode which she can occasionally use to slow down time, which can help with these difficult cuts.

A beautiful dream of Anya’s takes place with the minigame Go, Bond, Go! which is a platformer-style endless runner featuring Anya riding Bond. The dream-like atmosphere is gorgeous, and the gameplay is expertly crafted with special jumps, stars to collect, and power-ups in the form of Mr. Penguin and Director Chimera. As Bond runs, he can also build up a special Starlight Fever bar. Once activated, the Starlight Fever grants the duo invincibility and supersize for a short time.
This minigame is so well done that it could easily be made into a full-length game of its own, with Anya and Bond achieving world peace through endless running platformer levels. As it is, Go, Bond, Go! is the best of the minigames inSpy x Anya: Operation Memories, although all the minigames are enjoyable and worth playing.
